Join us in prayer for those impacted by devastating flash flooding along the border of Nepal and Tibet today. We pray especially for the families and loved ones of those who have died or remain missing, and for those who have lost their homes and livelihoods.

As first responders assist survivors and search for the missing, UMCOR stands ready to support the response efforts of United Mission Nepal and other partners in the region.

πŸ“– Matthew 16:13-16
Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, "Who do people say that the Son of Man is?" And they said, "Some say John the Baptist but others Elijah and still others Jeremiah or one of the prophets."

He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" Simon Peter answered, "You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God."

πŸ’ When and how did you come to realize as your Messiah?

"Freely, Freely" (no. 389 in The United Methodist Hymnal) was written by Carol Owens in 1972. Inspired by Matthew 10:8 β€” "Freely you have received; freely give" β€” this beloved hymn has become a congregational favorite for its simple, singable message about grace received and grace shared.

It reminds us that the love and forgiveness we've received from God isn't meant to be kept to ourselves β€” it's meant to be given away.

What does this hymn mean to you? Share your memories of singing "Freely, Freely".

β€œIt is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person, but it is what comes out of the mouth that defiles.” πŸ“– Matthew 15:10–11

Jesus invited us to look beyond outward appearances and consider what is happening within our hearts. Our words have the power to encourage or discourage, to heal or to wound, to build bridges or deepen divisions.

Following Christ calls us to cultivate hearts shaped by God's love so that our words reflect compassion, truth, and grace.

πŸ’ How can your words become a source of hope, kindness, or healing for someone this week?
