We're excited to share that Fr. Liam McDonald has been appointed the Director of Vocations for the Diocese of Rockville Centre. He is currently the pastor of St. Thérèse of Lisieux Church in Montauk.

Fr. Liam was ordained to the priesthood on June 24, 2017, the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist. He attended Norwich University and Alfred State College before earning a degree in Architecture and Engineering Technology. Following college, he worked for three and a half years as an estimator for a mechanical contractor. It was during this time that he began discerning a call to the priesthood.

Fr. Liam spent two years discerning his vocation at the minor seminary in Douglaston, New York, before completing his spiritual, pastoral, and academic formation at St. Joseph’s Seminary in Yonkers, New York. Prior to arriving at St. Thérèse of Lisieux Church, Fr. Liam served as chaplain at Holy Trinity Diocesan High School and as Associate Pastor at Holy Family Church in Hicksville.

Outside of his mission of spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ, Fr. Liam enjoys good coffee, hiking, running, and mountain biking. His favorite composer is Ludovico Einaudi, his favorite author is Michael O’Brien, and his favorite artist is William Kurelek.

Welcome, Fr. Liam!

Today, we celebrate the Fourth Sunday of Easter, Good Shepherd Sunday, and the World Day of Prayer for Vocations. Join us in asking the Lord to raise up a new generation of holy priests on Long Island, that they may continue to serve faithfully in our Diocese and bring us the sacraments.

Let us pray,
Almighty God, Lord of the harvest, send forth Your Holy Spirit into the hearts of Your faithful on Long Island. Enkindle in us a profound awareness of Your plan for our lives.

As we seek to discern the particular vocation to which You are calling us, grant us clarity to recognize your voice and peace as we follow Your invitation to serve You and Your Church.

May our closeness to Your Eucharistic presence inspire and encourage young men and women to offer their lives generously by laying down their lives in order that Your life may dwell within us.

Raise up, Lord, from our families, parishes, and schools holy and faithful priests, religious brothers and sisters, and marriages.

May all whom You call respond eagerly and joyfully to Your will.

Amen.
