“Be ye holy; for I am holy.”
How? You can’t—not in your own strength.
Is God contradicting Himself? No.
God isn’t telling us to imitate holiness as though we could produce it ourselves. He is calling us to embrace holiness by embracing the One who is holy.
You cannot be holy apart from the Holy One. To be holy, you have to be with the One who is holy. And to be with the One who is holy, you must be born again.
Holiness isn’t something we manufacture. It is a life that flows from a relationship with the Holy One.
