Hungarian Reformed Church of Columbus Ohio

Hungarian Reformed Church of Columbus Ohio Hungarian Reformed Church with traditional English service Sunday at 10:00 am by Rev Gabor Nitsch.

The Hungarian Reformed Church is a staple in the Hungarian Village community and has served its purpose for over one hundred years. It is built of red clay brick much like many of the original homes in the area, in a traditional but modest Hungarian style. There are three cornerstones at the front approach of the church. The Oldest only reads “1906” while the other two give only a little more insi

ght to the building's history. The Most relevant stone reads “Sep 1913 Rebuilt Aug. 26 1923” and the final stone links the congregation back to its Magyar Hungarian population, reading “United Magyar Protestant Church June 26, 1923”. The church still holds services every Sunday and has served as a meeting place for the Hungarian Village Society as well as other community events.

Kudos to the Hungarian Reformed Churches “Snow Warriors” Joe Szabo and Mark (Gaál) Latta for digging our church out this morning. Snowmageddon this past week left 12” and subzero temperatures but was still no match for Joe and Mark!

UPDATE

Members and Friends of the Hungarian Reformed Church:

We are all set for "Hungarian Night" at the Columbus Crew's June 29th 6:00 pm home game. I have reserved a block of 100 seats for us all to cheer on our Hungarian "Home Boy"! We will be in Sections 209 and 242.

After affixing all the required charges, the final ticket price is now $61. I have to collect the money and pay for the entire group. You can pay me by cash, check (made to Larry Latta) or through a payment service (Venmo, Zelle or Cash App). Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or to set up payment.

Hope to see you there!

Köszönöm szépen!

Members and Friends of the Hungarian Reformed Church of Columbus Ohio:

Did you know the Columbus Crew traded the Philadelphia Union for a world class professional Hungarian "football" midfielder a few weeks ago? Dániel Gazdag, born in Nyíregyháza, Hungary, looks to be a dominating offensive weapon.

The Columbus Crew is organizing a "Hungarian Night" SUNDAY, JUNE 29th, to not only welcome Dániel and his family to Columbus but to also introduce him to the entire Ohio Hungarian community. The match starts at 6:00 pm and the opponent is the Philadelphia Union. How ironic against his old team. Group ticket prices will be approximately $50. I plan to organize a group ticket purchase so we can all sit together, Hungarian flags in hand, to display our Hungarian pride and to make our presence known.

Can I have a "show of hands" via email or iM to let me know if you are interested in attending? I don't need a firm commitment now. I need to contact the Crew group sales office next week to lock down our section and quantity of seats to hold.

Questions? Email me or call.
