WHEN JESUS IS IN THE HOUSE
In Mark 2:1-12, Jesus entered Capernaum, which means “Village of Comfort,” and the people quickly heard that “He was in the house.” Most believe this was Simon Peter’s house. But the bigger question is this: Is Jesus in your house?
When Jesus is in the house, people are drawn in. The room became so full that nobody else could even get near the door. Why? Because Jesus was there preaching the Word. A house surrendered to God becomes a place where lives are changed.
Then four men brought a paralytic to Jesus. When they couldn’t get through the crowd, they climbed onto the roof, tore it open, and lowered the man down before Him. Houses in that day had flat roofs with outside stairways, making it possible to reach the top. Their persistence revealed their faith. Jesus always notices real faith when He sees it in action.
The religious scribes sat around questioning and criticizing, but faith moved the miracle. Religion talks about healing while true faith rises up and brings people to Jesus. The question was never, “Who can forgive sins?” The real question was, “Who in the room is healing and forgiving?” The answer was standing right in front of them—Jesus Christ.
Jesus asked, “Which is easier, to forgive sins or to heal?” The truth is He came to do both through His redemptive work. He still saves, heals, restores, and transforms lives today.
Jesus then told the paralytic, “Arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.” One touched life went back and impacted another house. That’s what happens when Jesus moves in power—His presence doesn’t stay confined to one place. The man walked out carrying his bed, but more importantly, he carried the testimony and presence of God with him.
Let Jesus demonstrate His power on earth—and especially in your house.
