Your past happened, but you can't keep allowing the old to prevent you from becoming new.

Paul said, “forgetting those things which are behind… I press toward the mark.” — Philippians 3:13–14

Colossians 3:9–10 tells us to put off the old self and put on the new.

That means some old habits, conversations, environments, and ways of thinking can't continue going with you.

You can't keep doing “old” things and expect to fully walk in the new.

Pay attention to what you've been saying about your life.

Your circumstances. Your future. Your marriage. Even yourself.

Scripture says “death and life are in the power of the tongue.” — Proverbs 18:21

So don't just change your words to something more positive. Change them to something that agrees with what God says.

If your whole church or youth group was just like you, what would your church be like?

Would it be prayerful?
Would it be a soul winning church?
Would it be able to financially keep the doors open?
Would it see first time guests?
Would it look like a church Jesus would be present?

Our minds get filled with noise, distractions, unnecessary habits, and things constantly competing for our attention.

Sometimes you need a reset, clear out the clutter and make room for God again.

“Be still, and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10

Maybe God isn't silent. Maybe there's simply too much noise.

Let's be honest.

We can say we love God, but Jesus gave us a way to examine that statement:

“If you love Me, keep My commandments.” John 14:15

Sometimes what we really love is ourselves our desires, our pleasures, and doing things our own way.

The question isn't simply, “Do I say I love God?”

It's “Does the way I live demonstrate that love?”

Being a Christian doesn't mean you'll never make another mistake.

That's why repentance has to become a lifestyle.

When you get something wrong, address it. Don't allow your mistake to create unnecessary distance between you and God.

Repentance isn't about running away from God because you failed. It's about getting back in alignment with Him.
