If you have been carrying the weight of worry, anxiety, and exhaustion... this message is for you.
Sunday's message came from 1 Peter 5, and Pastor Claudio brought something that stopped a lot of us in our tracks: anxiety is not just a worry problem. At its root, it is a humility problem. When we hold on to fear and refuse to release control, we are declaring... not always on purpose, but really... that we trust ourselves more than we trust God.
The Greek word for anxiety, merimna, literally means to divide, to pull apart, to fragment. That feeling of a scattered, overwhelmed mind? That is what Peter was naming 2,000 years ago. And his instruction was not "try harder." It was: cast it. Hurl it. Get rid of that thing.
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. : 1 Peter 5:7
If you have been struggling with sleepless nights, a restless mind, the pressure of trying to hold everything together, the feeling that nobody sees what you carry... hear this:
You are not unseen. You are not unrewarded. And you are not without a Shepherd.
Three anchors to walk away with:
You have a Shepherd: the Chief Shepherd is coming back, and he records every act of faithfulness.
You have a Posture: humility is the uniform of the believer. Humble yourself under God's mighty hand, and he will lift you in due time.
You have a Promise: after the suffering, he will restore you, strengthen you, and establish you.
The same God who saved you is the same God who establishes you.
