Welcome to the Glenwood Campus of Beacon of Hope UMC.

Welcome Holy Spirit!!! Today is Pentecost Sunday. Today, we celebrate the Gift of the Holy Spirit and the Birth of Christ's Church!!!! Let us join the disciples in the Upper Room, as they receive the Comforter Jesus promised and Power from the Holy Spirit!!! Listen as the wind blows and the Holy Spirit descends as a Fire into the room and lands on each disciple and gives them knowledge, power and the ability to speak to anyone! Our Gospel lesson reminds us that when Jesus enters a room, there is peace! May we continually invite Him and His Peace into our lives. Our New Testament Lesson recounts the story of the disciples receiving the Holy Spirit through a mighty wind and flaming tongues to speak the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all who are present! This is the Birth of Christ's Church. Today is also the Birth of Methodism, as John Wesley attended a revival at Aldersgate and was touched by the Spirit. His heart was "strangely warmed" by the Spirit of God. Remember to carry the joy and Fire of the Holy Spirit with you, as you go about your week, embrace and celebrate the Birth of THE CHURCH!!!! Come, Holy Spirit set our hearts on FIRE!!!! Our Liturgist is Jackie Gould. Our scriptures are from the Gospel of John 20:19-23 (NRSVUE) and the Book of Acts 2:1-21 (NRSVUE). Good Morning!!! We are glad you are here!!!!

Welcome to the Glenwood Campus of Beacon of Hope UMC.

Happy Easter!!! Happy Ascension Day! Today is is the 7th Sunday of Easter. We continue our celebration of the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior, while we anticipate the Birth of His Church and Pentecost!!!! Let us join the disciples, as Jesus blesses them, gives them wisdom to "preach the Gospel," and tells them to wait for the Holy Spirit to come. During this time with his disciples, Jesus ascends up into Heaven. Listen as He declares, "I must ascend so that the Holy Spirit may come!!!." Our Old Testament lesson reminds us that we should look up, so that the King of Glory may enter and we may be lifted up. Let us remember that we need to look up to God and be lifted up by Him! May we continually be lifted by His strength and love. Our Gospel Lesson is Jesus' final act, while on earth following his resurrection. He tells us to remain and wait for the Holy Spirit and reminds us that he must return to the Father, so that the Holy Spirit can come. Let us follow the disciples' lead and wait for the Holy Spirit to come and fill us, again!!! Remember, we continue to celebrate the fact that Death could not hold Him, HE IS ALIVE!!! Remember to carry the joy of the Resurrection with you, as you go about your week, embrace and celebrate His Ascension and wait for the Holy Spirit to fill ALL!! HE IS RISEN INDEED!!! Happy Easter!!! Today is is the 5th Sunday of Easter. We continue our celebration of the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior, while we anticipate the Birth of His Church and Pentecost!!!! Let us join the disciples in the Upper Room, as they share Passover with Jesus and He prays for them and us!!! Listen as He declares, "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life." Our Old Testament lesson reminds us that God is our refuge and our strong fortress. May we continually find shelter within his arms. He is our protector. Our Gospel Lesson reminds us that Jesus is preparing our Heavenly home and that He is the path we must take to live within its walls. Rediscover the saving power of the Messiah, as He proclaims that He is the only Way, the only Truth, and the only Life. Let us follow Him where He leads and be ready for the place He has prepared for us! Remember, we continue to celebrate the fact that Death could not hold Him, HE IS ALIVE!!! Remember to carry the joy of the Resurrection with you, as you go about your week, embrace and celebrate following the Resurrection and the Life!!! HE IS RISEN INDEED!!! Happy Easter!!! Today is is the 2nd Sunday after Easter and the 3rd Sunday in the Easter Season, as we move toward Pentecost and the Birth of the Church. Today, we continue to celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior!! Let us join the disciples as they travel with Jesus to Emmaus. Let us listen as He explains why He had to die. Our Old Testament lesson reminds us that God hears and saves us. May we remember to call out to Him daily, whether in times of triumph or trouble. He is our HOPE. Our Gospel Lesson reminds us that Jesus sometimes shows up, when we least expect Him and walks life's road with us! Rediscover the divine power of the Messiah through His breaking of the bread in Emmaus. Let our hearts burn within us, as He joins on our journey through life. Remember, we continue to celebrate the fact that Death could not hold Him, HE IS ALIVE!!! Remember to carry the joy of the Resurrection with you, as you go about your week, embrace and celebrate following the Resurrection and the Life!!! HE IS RISEN INDEED!!! Our Liturgist is Carl Powell.
