Don’t you just love the smell of fresh baking bread? Well, let’s make some! Come learn with us on Thursday, July 25th, at 4:00.

We’ll be making 2 ingredient sandwich bread. All supplies will be provided & we’ll sample the bread at the end of class.

Everyone goes home with a loaf of bread 🍞.

Tonight’s Adult Bible study started off with this quote - - - "Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you; Jesus Christ and the American soldier. One died for your soul; the other died for your freedom."

PART 1: FREEDOM HAS A PRICE
Opening Question
When you hear the phrase "Freedom isn't free," what sacrifices come to mind?
Scripture Reading
* Exodus 12:29-42
* John 8:31-36
* Galatians 5:1

Introduction
As we prepare to celebrate 250 years of independence, we remember that freedom has always required sacrifice. The freedoms we enjoy today were secured through the courage , service, and sacrifice of many people throughout history.
The Bible teaches a similar truth about spiritual freedom. Humanity was enslaved by sin, and freedom could not be obtained without a price. That price was paid by Jesus Christ on the cross.

Lesson 1: Israel's Freedom Came at a Cost
The Israelites spent generations in bo***ge in Egypt. They could not free themselves. God intervened through His power and delivered them from slavery.

Key Point
Freedom from bo***ge required God's action.

Lesson 2: Spiritual Freedom Came at an Even Greater Cost

In John 8, Jesus explained that everyone who sins is a slave to sin. While many people think freedom means doing whatever they want, Jesus taught that true freedom comes only through Him.

Key Point
Our spiritual freedom was purchased through Christ's sacrifice.

Lesson 3: Freedom Must Be Appreciated

People often take freedom for granted when they forget what it cost.
The same is true spiritually. When believers forget the cross, they may fail to appreciate the freedom Christ has given them.

Application
Spend time this week thanking God specifically for the freedom you have through Jesus Christ.

Closing Thought for Part 1
Freedom—whether national or spiritual—is precious because someone paid a price for it. As we celebrate our nation's history, we remember the greater freedom purchased by Christ.

The Young Adults met last night. Their topic was “Forgiveness” . Below are some of the highlight points. Their Scriptures were Matthew 6:14-15, Psalm 103: 12, & Romans 12: 17-19. Rev. Maxine Wilkerson delivered the message & you can go watch the live to see & hear the message.

The Young Adults meet the 1st & 3rd Tuesdays of each month. They start at 6:00pm with dinner & the worship service follows at 7:00pm. If you’re between the ages of 19-29, you are welcome to come join them.

YOU are invited to join us Sunday, June 28th as we celebrate 250 years of Freedom!

The day begins at 10:00am with Sunday school, then worship service featuring Patriotic hymns and songs, after which will be a short Congregational meeting.

Once lunch is served the corn hole tournament will begin, with two sets of boards to keep the action moving. Many other games, for all ages, from years past well be set up.

We will close the afternoon singing Happy Birthday America and a cake walk with the winner taking home the birthday cake!

So come join us at Columbus Presbyterian Church for this day of Celebration of Freedom, featuring fun, patriotic music, popcorn, snow cones, cupcakes and more!

Another successful adventure. Although the jelly hadn’t set up when we sampled it, it had a delicious flavor so it’s going to be some good stuff!!! And you can tell from the photo that we had a good time.

The Blackberries are here & it’s almost time to learn how to make Blackberry Jelly.

You’ve still got time to come join us! Class starts at 3:00pm in the Columbus Presbyterian Church kitchen, on the corner of Walker St. & Peniel Rd. Bring 6 1/2 pint jars with you.

Once the jelly is made, we’ll sample it on some homemade hot buttered biscuits.
