Read Psalm 138
"I will praise thee with my whole heart..."(v.1)
Even in the midst of trouble, the Psalmist praised and worshiped the LORD.
He cried out and the LORD heard him, strengthened him, revived him, and rescued him because the LORD is caring and compassionate.
"Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you." (1 Peter 5:7)
He will fulfill His purpose for us and finish the good work He has begun in us. (v.8) (Philippians 1:6)
In the day when I cried, You answered me and strengthened me with strength in my soul. (v.3)

(Prayer)
O LORD, I put my trust in You as I go about my day. With my whole heart I will praise You, worship You, and follow You to glorify You, because I love and trust You. Amen!

Read Psalm 137
When simply reading through this passage, some of its words and the implied setting may come across as being a little odd. This psalm was written during the Babylonian captivity.
It can be broken down in three sections.
1) "A plea when in captivity" (v.1-4)
2) "A vow to remember" (v.5-6)
3) "A prayer for the LORD’s retaliation" (v.7-9)
Now to apply this.
It's not uncommon for a believer to struggle with sin and possibly get caught up in a sinful struggle (captivity). By no means am I attempting to justify any such thing, rather I am simply stating that it happens and the joy of a spiritual life is soon removed in consequence.
We must remember the peace that is found in the life of one pursuing holiness. We must also remember who sets us free from bo***ge, and pray for release from any sinful captivity and destruction of any sinful desires in the future.

(Prayer)
Father, I know spiritual battles and struggles come quickly and consistently. Strengthen and equip me through Your Word and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit to prevent the captivity of sin and the loss of spiritual joy. May you be glorified in me and through me today and always. All for Your glory and in Jesus name, for it is He who has set me free. Amen!

Read Psalm 136
"O give thanks unto the Lord; for He is good: for His mercy endureth for ever."

Psalm 136 is a hymn of praise similar to Psalm 135.
In regards to newer styles of worship, a common concern for some is the repetition of words. Here we see five powerful words repeated 26 times in a great worshipful psalm of praise.
We have so much to praise the LORD for; it can all be summed up in these few words, "...For He is good: for His mercy endureth forever."(v.1)
The Lord is good, He has done great things. He shows His goodness and greatness through His creations, provisions, protection, guidance, redemption, and salvation.

(Prayer)
Father, I thank You for this day. Morning by morning new mercies I see, and Your loving kindness is amazing to me. Thank You for loving me, and saving me. All for Your glory and in the precious name of Jesus, Amen!

"And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Savior of the world." (1John 4:14)
We have a Good, Good Father and we are Loved by Him.
May we rejoice in His love for us and our salvation through Jesus His Son.

Read Psalm 135.
While reading through these 21 verses, a three point outline rings clear.
1) "A Call to Praise" (v.1-3).
“Praise the LORD; for the LORD is good: sing praises unto His name; for it is pleasant." (v.3)
2) "A Cause to Praise"
"The Lord is great"(v.5) He provides, He protects, He is perfect, and His name will endure forever. Because of all of this, the Lord is worthy of:
3) "Continual Praise and Blessing" (v.19-21)

Even when we find ourselves in the most difficult times, if we place our focus on the LORD, our struggles seem smaller.
"Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name."
(Psalm 103:1)

(Prayer)
Father, You are good, gracious, and glorious. Your provisions, protection, and presence is undeniably greater than I/we can imagine. For all of this I bring you praise and pray for strength, discernment, and direction. All for Your glory and in Jesus name. Amen!

Read Psalm 134
"A Call to Praise"
There is an obvious six point outline in this very short psalm.
1) What: Bless ye the LORD
2) Who: All ye servants of the LORD
3) When: By night
4) Where: In the house of the LORD...in the sanctuary
5) How: Standing and lifting your hands
6) Why: The LORD hath made heaven and earth
"BLESS YE THE LORD!"
In Psalm 133, the call is to come together.
In Psalm 134, the call is to praise together.
In Acts 16:25, Paul and Silas prayed and sang praises unto God at midnight, and in Psalm 119:62 the psalmist would rise up at midnight to give thanks unto the LORD. But we are not to limit ourselves to evening praise. In Psalm 119:164, that same writer gave testimony of giving praise SEVEN times a day. We are also instructed in Psalm 63:1-2 to seek the LORD early.

Will you seek the LORD early today?
As you come before His throne of grace to pray, may I challenge you to give one or two praises per each request. Give recognition and praise to the God of all creation before you come with your petition.
