Life Because of the Son
John 5:16–30
The people listening to Jesus struggled with what He was saying. Calling God His Father, and claiming to move in step with Him…it felt too close, too bold.
But Jesus wasn’t speaking casually. He was revealing something true.
He only does what He sees the Father doing. He carries His heart, His authority - even the power to give life.
And that changes everything.
Because the life Jesus offers isn’t distant or someday - it’s real, and it’s now. The One who perfectly reflects the Father is the same One who makes a way for us to know Him. Because of the Son, we are no longer at a distance.
We are invited in.
Into closeness.
Into belonging.
Into true life.
Not something we earn, but something we receive simply by coming to Him.
Abba Father,
Thank you for the life, death, and resurrection of your Son. By His wounds, we are healed. Be with us as we continue to step through Holy Week together.
Amen.

Holy Week is a great opportunity to come together as the body of believers as we look towards Resurrection Sunday. Here are a few things we have happening this week! We hope to see you there.

Romans 3 talks about how we are all alike under the power of sin. Jew and Gentile alike fall under the umbrella of sin. Seems like a pretty intense thing to talk about, right? Even now, we are sinful at birth and fall short of God’s righteousness through our acts and works. Paul then tells us how we are made righteous: through faith. This righteousness is given through Jesus Christ to all who believe. Because all have sinned, all are justified freely by his grace through Jesus Christ. This grace is not given to certain groups or individuals. This is a grace that is poured out for all. Jesus was presented as a sacrifice, not because of his wrongdoings, but ours. We can receive this sacrifice through faith in the Messiah.
Don’t take God’s grace lightly. Because Jesus bore the sins of all on the cross, God’s grace extends to all. Yes, even that one person in your life who frustrates you or makes things difficult. God doesn’t ask us to decide who receives mercy. God asks us to have faith in Him and extend His grace to all. Go today trusting we have a God who loves us so much that He sent his one and only Son to die for us. That’s a God worth having faith in!
Father, reveal to us where we are falling short and help us to become closer to you. Help us to show grace to others and love others with the same love you give us. Amen.

Matthew 24:36-51

At some point, you have probably read or heard about someone predicting when Jesus is coming. News headlines cause people to look into the Scripture and guess when Jesus is coming back. Many have their speculations, but in Matthew 24, we are reminded that no one knows when the day or hour will be. For some, this is scary and stressful. But today, be reminded of the peace that comes with the unknown.
First, think about the promise that has been made. We have a Savior who loves us so much that He wants to spend forever with us. Even in our sinfulness and brokenness, God sees past that and wants to spend eternity with us. Even though we don’t know the day or time, let's rejoice in a God who has promised to come back at a day and time.
Secondly, not knowing the day or time makes our time here on Earth that much more precious. It puts into perspective how important our ministry is. If we don’t know when Jesus is coming, then it is important to be leading others to Christ. It puts into perspective just how important the Great Commission is. As we continue in the Lent Season, I encourage you to ask God who it is He is leading you to bring closer to Him.
Take heart in knowing we don’t have to have it all figured out. We don’t need to look at articles for patterns or signs of when it will happen. God doesn’t ask us to figure it out. He asks us to find peace in the still. I invite you to pray this prayer today: Father, help me to find peace today. Even though I don’t have it all figured out, you do. Thank you Father!
