We were grateful to welcome Catholic Sisters Walking with Migrants to Kino Border Initiative as part of our immersion program.
This initiative, led by Sr. Eileen McKenzie, our Mobilization Specialist and member of the Advocacy team, continues to open spaces of encounter, reflection, and shared mission.
Their visit was marked by deep spiritual accompaniment and a strong commitment to walk alongside migrants with dignity. As women of faith, their presence reflects a profound alignment with Kino’s mission—strengthening our collective call to accompany migrants and advocate for their rights.
“Being united by a shared cause reminds us that the path we have chosen is the right one.” – Sr. Eileen
We are grateful to walk together, building a community rooted in faith, justice, and compassion—so that every step forward is also a step toward greater dignity for our migrant brothers and sisters.

In this reflection, Jeff Koch explores the mystery of the Trinity not as a doctrine to be perfectly explained, but as a relationship to be experienced. Through Scripture and everyday faith, he invites us to encounter the loving presence of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—and to reflect that same unity, mercy, and grace within our own communities.

We talk the talk, we walk the walk 🚶🏼‍♀️

Ahead of World Environment Day, Sr. Gemma Doll joined the final three miles of the Great Ohio Climate March on May 28. The march, which began in Athens two weeks earlier, aimed to raise awareness about fracking in state parks and pollution linked to data centers.

Sr. Ann and Sr. Kathy, Benedictines from Erie, Pennsylvania, also participated in the walk. Following the march’s conclusion at the Ohio Statehouse, participants met with representatives and senators to advocate on current environmental legislation under consideration. 🌎🚶‍♀️💚

On May 28, the Albertus Magnus College community gathered in the Contemplative Garden to celebrate Sister Cathy Buchanan, O.P. and thank her for the incredible impact she has had on outhe campus.
Loved deeply by Albertus students, Sr. Cathy served as Campus Minister and was a constant source of kindness and faith. Through her work and ministry, Sr. Cathy created meaningful connections across campus and made so many students feel seen during some of the most important years of their lives.
The Dominican Sisters of Peace are blessed with Sr. Cathy in our community, and eager to see where her leads.

We are so proud of Sr. Cathy's ministry at Albertus Magnus College. We can't wait to see where takes her next!

From the Archives Friday 💜

As we approach Gun Violence Awareness Month this June, we remember Sr. Catherine “Kay” Burland, OP (1934–2018), a faithful sister of St. Mary of the Springs whose life witnessed both the pain of violence and the power of perseverance.

A devoted teacher in Ohio and New York, Sr. Kay was seriously wounded by gun violence in Columbus in 1968. After a long recovery, she continued her ministry through office work, served as a school librarian, and later volunteered for many years at Mohun before becoming a resident there.

Her story calls us to pray, to remember, and to work for a more peaceful world.

Pope Leo XIV is inviting Catholics around the world to join him in praying a rosary for peace on May 30.

The Holy Father is set to pray the rosary live from the Lourdes Grotto in the Vatican Gardens at 7 p.m. Rome time. Monsignor Walter R. Rossi, rector of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C., will join Pope Leo in praying the rosary with a simultaneous livestream at 1 p.m. ET, according to a May 22 press release.

Shrines that have joined the initiative, coordinated by the Dicastery for Evangelization, include: the Shrine of the Mother of God (Zarvanytsia, Ukraine); the International Shrine of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage (Antipolo, Philippines); the Shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary (Fátima, Portugal); the Shrine of Our Lady Queen of Peace (Medjugorje, Bosnia and Herzegovina); the Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes (Lourdes, France); the Shrine of St. Charbel Annaya (Byblos, Lebanon); and the Pontifical Shrine of the Holy House (Loreto, Italy).

“As the preeminent Marian shrine and patronal church of the United States, the basilica joins shrines throughout the world in this worldwide rosary with the Holy Father,” according to a statement from the basilica in Washington, D.C. “All are invited to participate in this special moment of unity and prayer for peace throughout the world.”

During his homily at Pentecost, Leo called Catholics to pray to the Holy Spirit to “save us from the evil of war, which is overcome not by a superpower but by the omnipotence of love.”

Leo has issued repeated calls for peace around the world, including the Middle East, Africa, and Ukraine, since the start of his pontificate.
