“Be faithful in small things because it is in them that your strength lies.” - St. Teresa of Calcutta (1910-1997)

St. Teresa of Calcutta was born Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu in present day Macedonia. At the age of only 18 she joined the Sisters of Loreto in Dublin, Ireland, where she took the name Teresa after St. Thérèse of Lisieux. On September 10th, 1946, while traveling to a retreat, St. Teresa received a "call within a call."

In this call Christ told her to stop teaching and to work in the slums of Calcutta aiding the poorest of the poor. In time, she founded the Missionaries of Charity and was even awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 for her work.

Her patronage includes the Missionaries of Charity, World Youth Day, and the Archdiocese of Calcutta.

St. Teresa of Calcutta, pray for us!

Yesterday, Bishop Earl K. Fernandes gave a presentation to students from the Ozanam Law & Service Society at Capital University Law School. He highlighted Pope Leo XIV's new encyclical, "Magnifica Humanitas," and what it means for law, ethics, and human dignity.

The Ozanam Law & Service Society is a Catholic law student organization named for Blessed Frédéric Ozanam, a candidate for sainthood, and founder of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.

Let us pray for those in the field of law, and how they work to uphold the inherent dignity of others!

“Turn your eyes incessantly to the Blessed Virgin; she, who is the Mother of Sorrows and also the Mother of Consolation, can understand you completely and help you. Looking to her, praying to her, you will obtain that your tedium will become serenity, your anguish change into hope, and your grief into love.” -St. John Paul II

September is the month of Our Lady of Sorrows.

Please join us in reflecting on the Seven Sorrows of Mary. Each one connects to the anguish the heart of Mary experienced throughout her life. From early in Jesus' life, searching for Him in the temple, to the end of Jesus' life, dying on the cross, Our Lady of Sorrows can be a source of consolation in times of suffering and grief.

Let us invite Our Lady of Sorrows to be a comfort in these and all times of heaviness and sorrow.

Let us pray,

Hail Mary, full of grace…
