First Community

First Community Where Everyone is Accepted.

We believe…
-All people are included in God's unconditional love and grace.
-In Jesus Christ whose life revealed God's love at work in the human family.
-In the Holy Spirit as the power by which we are brought into closer
harmony with our Creator. Therefore we...
-Strive to follow the path of Jesus Christ, while recognizing other pathways
to the Divine.
-Encourage e

ach person's spiritual journey, embracing a variety of spiritual
disciplines.
-Understand that the words we use to express our faith are to be lived
out by loving and compassionate action.
-Take the Bible seriously, not literally; finding more grace in the search for
meaning than in absolute certainty.
-Agree to differ, unite to serve, and resolve to love.

Join us for MorningSong — a special service of music, readings, prayer, and congregational singing at First Community Church.

Sunday, May 31
9 & 11 am
First Community North

Featuring a full orchestra, choir, and beloved hymns, MorningSong invites the congregation to sing throughout the service in a joyful celebration of faith, gratitude, hope, and wonder. From “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” and “Be Thou My Vision” to “All Creatures of Our God and King,” this unique worship experience will fill the sanctuary with music and inspiration.

This service will include scripture, poetry, reflections, and beautiful choral and orchestral music. There will be no sermon, creating space to fully experience the beauty and power of worship through music and word.

At the 11 am service, we will also welcome new members into the life of the church.

Following the 11 am service, everyone is invited to Wing Grace Hall for a special reception honoring Patti Link in gratitude for her 50 years of faithful service to First Community Church as she enters retirement.

Please note:
• There will be no 10 am service at FC South on May 31.
• Reception follows the 11 am service at FC North.

We hope you’ll join us for this meaningful and memorable Sunday.

Please say a prayer for the person below and write your name in the booklet. Prayers & Squares will then complete the prayer quilt, with knots having been tied to represent the prayers of those who participated both at church and online. We’ll provide a list of the names to the recipients. Our ministry has always been about Congregational prayers—you do not need to personally know the prayer quilt recipient to offer a prayer for their comfort. Past recipients have attested to the power of prayer from complete strangers as well as loved ones. We know this to be true, evidenced by the Prayers & Squares motto: “It’s not about the quilt, it’s about the prayers.”

A prayer from Rev Mary Kate Buchanan:
Loving God,
As this person wraps themselves in this prayer quilt, I pray they feel surrounded by Your comfort and peace. I pray they can feel the love and support of all those who are praying for them near and far. May they know that they are not alone in the struggles they face. In the name of One who came in love to show us how to love, I pray. Amen.
Person receiving prayer quilt: PJ
