The town of Charleston, MS was devastated by the recent ice storm, just like so many areas in north MS. This town in particular has a high population of older people that really need a hand clearing debris, and some still don’t have power and basic resources.

Vibrant volunteers will partner with a local church there to facilitate a team of volunteers to meet the highest needs. They will serve as a hub for directives and will provide 3 home cooked meals & snacks for volunteers.

We will start sending teams out to work around 8am and all thru the day. So whatever time you can offer, it’s appreciated!

We have been offered a trailer to take equipment and a van to transport anyone who would like to ride together. You can indicate the desire to carpool when you sign up for First Saturday Serve. Bring work gloves and if you have a chainsaw, we’d love to utilize that, too.

We will be collecting gift cards for Center for Violence Prevention. Gift cards can be dropped off at guest services Sundays leading up to Nov. 30th. Please place the cards in an envelope labeled gift card for CFVP.

Kathy Cadden with Operation Ukraine will be putting food boxes together to ship to families in Ukraine. These are the items needed. If you would like to donate any of these items please bring them to Guest Service by Sunday Sept. 21st. You can also bring items during the week Monday thru Thursday 9am to 5pm.
