Hoge Memorial Presbyterian Church Hoge Memorial Presbyterian Church More than two million people call the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) their spiritual home.

Presbyterians affirm that God comes to us with grace and love in the person of Jesus Christ, who lived, died, and rose for us so that we might have eternal and abundant life in him. As Christ’s disciples, called to ministry in his name, we seek to continue his mission of teaching the truth, feeding the hungry, healing the broken, and welcoming strangers. God sends the Holy Spirit to dwell within u

s, giving us the energy, intelligence, imagination, and love to be Christ’s faithful disciples in the world. Worshiping in 10,000 Presbyterian congregations throughout the United States, they engage the communities in which they live and serve with God’s love.

Sunday School 02/15/2026-Jeni started Sunday School reminding us that long, long ago people passed on knowledge by sharing stories. Then she had us stand in a place close to our Sunday School Room with all the lights out and she recited the first verses of Genesis. When she said God said “Let there be light” she turned on the candle. We went back in our Sunday School room and talked about the difference between total darkness and having day and night. Then she talked about God creating the sky followed by the creation of land separate from water. We then learned, “This Little Light of Mine.” We ended with our prayers.

Sunday School January 18, 1016-“Our Prayer” is a prayer Jeni taught us and we say it at the beginning of Sunday School. Today I gave each girl a printed copy of the prayer after we said it. I asked them the question at the bottom. This was very hard for them to answer. “Good” was one of the girl’s answer. The other one did not know. I simply said it was something we will think and talk about more when we are together.

They created pictures with scissors, glue, and colored paper.

Sunday School - 01/11/2026. Jeni gave each of us a very small basket. Then we talked about what Mary and Joseph would need to take care of baby Jesus. She gave us a wooden bowl with a small cracker to represent the food we said he would need. She gave us a strand of wool yarn to represent the clothing and blankets we thought he would need.

Then we talked about the animals in the barn, and she taught us the Carol of the Friendly Beasts. She sang a line, we sang it back.

Sunday School 12-7-25 - We learned that the second candle in the advent wreath stands for peace. Then Donna read from Isaiah, chapter 40, verses 3 -5. After that she explained that in the time that Jesus was born it was hard to travel. If the King wanted to go somewhere the roads would be cleared so it would be easy to travel. The children took turns being the queen. Many things were put out on the road. The children and I who were not the queen would clear the road so she could get across the room. Two queens wanted to get to their horse. One wanted to get to her fire truck!
