As our nation approaches the 250th Anniversary, we join with women religious across the United States in affirming the Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR) Declaration of Commitment.
For generations, Catholic sisters have educated children, cared for the sick, welcomed those on the margins, advocated for human dignity, and worked to build a more just and compassionate society. As we reflect on our nation's history, we also recognize the ongoing challenges faced by many who continue to experience barriers to opportunity, participation, and human flourishing.
Today, the LCWR Declaration of Commitment and Letter to Congress are being delivered to Congressional leaders and shared with every member of Congress. The declaration expresses our commitment to prayer, moral courage, and action in service of the common good, especially for those most vulnerable among us.
As Dominican Sisters of Peace, we stand in solidarity with all who seek a nation where justice, mercy, compassion, freedom, and the dignity of every person are upheld. We invite you to read the declaration, reflect on its message, and join us in building bridges of understanding and hope: https://www.lcwr.org/news/lcwr-declaration-of-commitment-1
As we celebrate our nation's past, may we also recommit ourselves to creating a future where life, liberty, faith, and the flourishing of the human spirit are possible for all.
