WHY DID JESUS AFFIRM THAT THE LORD IS ONE?
Have you ever stopped to reflect on one of the most important statements Jesus ever made?
đź“– In Mark 12:29, Jesus answered:
“The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord.”
Think about that for a moment.
When Jesus was asked about the greatest commandment, he affirmed that the Lord is One.
đź’ But what does this teach us about the way we should understand and worship God?
Should our worship be directed to the One who created us, sustains us, hears our prayers, and has power over all things?
Or should we pause and carefully examine what the prophets taught about the One God?
🌿 In Islam, this message is at the heart of our faith: Tawheed worshipping Allah alone, without associating any partners with Him.
We believe that Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad (peace be upon them all) called people to worship the One Creator.
Allah says in the Qur’an:
📖 “Say, He is Allah, [Who is] One.” Qur’an 112:1
Islam honors Jesus (peace be upon him) as the Messiah and a mighty messenger of Allah. We do not invite people to reject Jesus; we invite them to reflect deeply on his message and the God he worshipped.
❤️ A sincere question for everyone seeking the truth:
If Jesus affirmed that the Lord is One, how should this statement shape our understanding of God and our worship?
Don't be afraid to ask sincere questions. Seeking the truth requires reflection, honesty, and an open heart.
