Same time, different place.

We had a wonderful spring clean-up today starting at 9am. Everything was clean and beautiful outside and in. We were almost ready to go home and then someone smelled smoke.

God is good. All the time. He is the God of all grace. Here is one more example of that fact.

Columbus Fire arrived and made sure everything was out and safe. We praise the Lord for them. We praise the Lord for the way he protected everyone, as well as the building where his Gospel is preached and sung each week, and from which he sends us into the world to live the faith and bring his love and grace into our callings.

Tomorrow is Easter 7, the close to this "week of weeks" a season of rejoicing in Jesus' resurrection. We've seen in so many ways how Jesus' resurrection makes all the difference and how it applies to every facet of life.

Tomorrow we'll dig into 1 Peter 4 and 5 and be encouraged to "cast all your anxieties upon him because he cares for you." He showed that care again today. The God of all grace cares for you! He really does. There are some amazing promises in the text for tomorrow, promises from God to us and I can't wait to share them with you. Jesus lives and he gives us an eager expectation of glory.

God is good. All the time. And the God of all grace cares for you!

See you at Shepherd of Peace, 10:30am, 520 Village Park Dr, Powell, OH 43065.

Forgiveness That Changes the World
“Whenever you forgive people’s sins, they are forgiven” (John 20:23).

Jesus gives his church (and every member of it) a breathtaking role: to carry his forgiveness into real lives.

That means:
– when a spouse says, “I forgive you,” in Christ,
– when a parent says, “You’re forgiven,” in Christ,
– when a friend says, “I release this,” in Christ,
they are speaking with authority from God himself.

There’s no “Plan B” for extending Christ’s forgiveness. We are part of God's "Plan A" for this kingdom work.

Jesus' nail marked hands prove forgiveness is real. Jesus died and rose and forgiveness is yours, from God himself. As you marvel at the grace given you, and the new life you've received, look around and ask yourself who might need to hear these words of forgiveness from you? You are an ambassador of the King.

“Peace be with you.”

Jesus spoke those words into a room full of anxiety, regret, and trauma; and his Word created the peace it announced.

Not “I hope you feel peaceful soon,” but, “I am giving you peace with God—and out of that, peace in the storm.”

Whatever chaos you carry today, hear the risen Jesus speak into it:
“Peace be with you.”

The disciples spent Easter Saturday hiding. Afraid. Defeated.

It looked like nothing was happening.

But Christ was already proclaiming his victory. And then he showed up, even though the doors were locked. He gave them proof and peace.

If you’re suffering, misunderstood, or under pressure: it may feel like silence.

It isn’t.

You are already vindicated in him.

Jesus is risen. He's still risen. His people are here and he is here, for you.

Tomorrow the celebration of the Easter season continues!

Join us for worship as we'll walk through John 20:19-31. He lives to give me proof and peace!

"On the seventh day God had finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had been doing. 3 God blessed the seventh day and set it apart as holy, because on it he rested from all his work of creation that he had done" (Genesis 2:2-3).
Many years after he first created the world, "through him all things were made" (John 1:3), our Servant-Savior, Jesus finished his work, but this time it was not the work of creating the world. This time it was the work of redeeming the world (and you and me). When everything was completed, all debts paid in full, Jesus proclaimed from the cross, "It is finished" (John 19:30)! That Word from the cross is so beautiful!
And then he rested. Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus buried him. Jesus really suffered. Jesus really died and he was buried. His body rested. "My flesh also will rest in hope, 27 because you will not abandon my life to the grave, nor will you let your Holy One see decay" (Acts 2:26-27).
Tomorrow we will sing and rejoice because of the reality of Jesus' resurrection and what it means. Jesus' resurrection makes all the difference! But today we rest in hope, and we wait and we watch, much like these trumpet shaped lilies, waiting to trumpet the good news, "Christ is risen! He is risen indeed."
I am so very much looking forward to worshipping with you tomorrow at 10:30am (remember breakfast is at 9:30am)! See you in church!

Jesus' Death recorded in Matthew 27:45-56. This is why we call this Friday “Good.”

(Recorded also in Mark 15:33-41; Luke 23:44-49; John 19:28-37)

“45From the sixth hour until the ninth hour,[] there was darkness over all the land. 46About the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” which means, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”
47When some of those standing there heard this, they said, “This fellow is calling for Elijah.”
48Immediately one of them ran, took a sponge, and soaked it with sour wine. Then he put it on a stick and gave him a drink. 49The rest said, “Leave him alone. Let's see if Elijah comes to save him.”
50After Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, he gave up his spirit. 51Suddenly, the temple curtain was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook and rocks were split. 52Tombs were opened, and many bodies of saints who had fallen asleep were raised to life. 53Those who came out of the tombs went into the holy city after Jesus' resurrection and appeared to many people. 54When the centurion and those who were guarding Jesus with him saw the earthquake and the things that had happened, they were terrified and said, “Truly this was the Son of God.”
55Many women who had followed Jesus from Galilee and who had served him were there, watching from a distance. 56Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and the mother of Zebedee's sons.”

Jesus' resurrection makes all the difference! The season of Easter is a 50-day celebration of that fact, and it kicks off this Sunday!

Join us for Easter worship, Sunday April 5th at 10:30am (breakfast is at 9:30am).

Jesus takes us from death to life through his resurrection!

03/30/2026

Join us for worship as we celebrate our risen Savior this Easter season! Easter Sunday, April 5th, this 50-day celebration kicks off with Easter day worship at 10:30am.
In life there are many either/or moments. Some of them are of little long-term consequence. What difference will it make? I will have either the chicken or the fish. Some of them matter more. I will accept the new job offer or keep my current job. One either/or moment is life-changing for every human being. Either Jesus is still dead, or Jesus rose from the dead. Easter makes all the difference! Jesus said he would rise from the dead. “The Son of Man must suffer many things . . . be killed and after three days rise again” (Mark 8:31). So if Jesus had remained dead, he would have been both a failure and a fraud. If Christ had not risen, we would still be in our sin.
But Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Easter makes all the difference! He lives! The season of Easter is a 50-day celebration of that fact.
Join us for worship as we celebrate our risen Savior this Easter season! It starts April 5th at 10:30am.

A prayer of thanks (from Psalms 136 and 147):

Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good. His love endures forever. [He] gives food to every creature. He provides food for the cattle and for the young ravens when they call. His pleasure is not in the strength of the horse, nor His delight in the legs of a man; the Lord delights in those who fear Him, who put their hope in His unfailing love. Amen. (Luther)

Psalm 136:1,25
“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good.
For his mercy endures forever.”
“He gives food to all living creatures.
For his mercy endures forever.”

Psalm 147:7-11
“7 Respond to the Lord with thanksgiving.
Make music to our God on the lyre.
8 He is the one who covers the sky with clouds.
He determines rain for the earth.
He makes grass sprout on the mountains.
9 He gives their food to the cattle
and to the young ravens when they call.
10 He is not impressed by the strength of the horse. He is not pleased with the legs of a man.
11 The Lord is pleased with those who fear him, those who wait for his mercy.”
