We celebrated Easter two Sundays ago. But did you know most Christians across the world are still celebrating the Easter season?

The resurrection of Jesus reverberates into eternity, and the ancient and global church marks this by celebrating Easter for fifty days—or seven Sundays—called Eastertide.

EASTER SUNDAY
Sunday, April 5 @ 10 am
4-H Center | 2201 Fred Taylor Dr., 43210

Life is scary. Even life with the risen Jesus.  According to Matthew, the first witnesses of Jesus’ resurrection were afraid, even while they worshipped the risen Jesus at his feet (Matthew 29:1-10)! Life at Jesus’ feet doesn’t always remove our fears. But Jesus gives them—and us—two gifts when we are afraid: 1) a merciful response—“do not be afraid,” and 2) a meaningful mission—“go and tell my brothers.” We’ll explore these life changing gifts this Easter Sunday. In addition, children in preschool through 5th grade are invited to participate in our annual resurrection eggs tradition during Hope Kids, and everyone is invited to our monthly newcomer’s brunch with donuts after the service. We can’t wait to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus with you at Hope!

GOOD FRIDAY SERVICE
Friday, April 3 @ 7:30 pm
4-H Center | 2201 Fred Taylor Dr., 43210

For centuries, Christians have commemorated the crucifixion of Jesus each year with Good Friday services, remembering and lamenting the suffering he endured. This Good Friday, join Hope for a special Tenebrae service, where we’ll sing together, read Scripture, and reflect solemnly on the death of our Lord.

Too often, Christians are playing euchre.

Just leaning back in our chairs, going through the motions, distracted by what’s on TV.

But the story Jesus invites us into should transform each of us, no matter who we are, into creative risk-takers.

Like playing chess, each move has great significance.

The surest sign that we have not really experienced the welcome of Jesus, is a grumbling heart when those we think are undeserving receive it.

1/ “All these years” = we keep tabs with God

2/ “Slaving for you” = we obey out of duty and fear

3/ “Never disobeyed” = we are proud of our surface obedience but blind to our deep pride and self-sufficiency

4/ “You never gave me” = we obey God for what he gives us and get angry when God doesn’t “follow through” with our imaginary ultimatums

5/ “Celebrate with my friends” = God is not our friend

6/ “This son of yours” = we take moral high ground over messy people who receive God’s grace, unwilling to identify with them

Due to space limitations, Hope Kids programming—including nursery—will not be available, so children are invited to worship with their families during the entire service this week. See you there!

Our service this morning is canceled because of the snow. We are not live-streaming, but encourage you to make use of today’s daily devotional from Seeking God’s Face, which can be found online for free at www.seekinggodsface.org. Many folks at Hope pray daily with this devotional (which is on our book table), and so we think this is one way for us to be united in Scripture and prayer this morning, despite being separated by the weather. Stay warm!

Hope Men! Mark your calendar for a Saturday morning with pancakes, sausage, coffee, and good conversation. This is a short, low-key chance to connect with other men at Hope, enjoy a free meal, and pray for one another.
