Welcome to Wednesday Word w/ Pastor Green — Series 2, Part 3 of our Study of the Book of James!

Tonight we’re stepping into James 2:13–26, where James delivers one of the most direct and challenging truths in the entire letter: “Faith Without Good Deeds Is Dead.” After warning us against prejudice in the first half of the chapter, James now shifts to the evidence of genuine faith—how true belief must be accompanied by righteous action.

James teaches that faith is not merely something we profess; it is something we practice. Real faith shows up in how we serve, how we love, how we respond to needs, and how we live out the Word we claim to believe. A faith that produces no deeds, no compassion, no obedience, and no transformation is a faith that is lifeless—empty in confession and powerless in witness.

In this passage, James confronts the danger of a faith that speaks loudly but acts little. He reminds us that even demons believe—but belief without obedience does not honor God. What God desires is a faith that moves, a faith that works, a faith that demonstrates His character through our actions.

As we lean into Part 3, let’s allow the Word to challenge us deeply. May our faith be alive, active, and visible—proving itself through good deeds that reflect the heart of Christ and the truth of the gospel.
