Welcome to Wednesday Word w/ Pastor Green — Part 7 of our series on Biblical Character!

Tonight we’re continuing in James 1:7–8, where James gives us a sobering look at what happens when we try to live, decide, and endure without God’s wisdom. In Parts 5 and 6, we focused on how God gives wisdom generously and how faith shapes the way we ask. But now James turns our attention to the consequences of not seeking that wisdom.

James teaches that when we lack wisdom, we become spiritually unstable—tossed around by circumstances, pulled in different directions, and unable to stand firm in our faith. A lack of wisdom doesn’t just leave us confused; it leaves our character vulnerable. It weakens our decisions, clouds our judgment, and keeps us from becoming the mature, steady believers God calls us to be.

In these verses, James describes the double‑minded person—unsettled, inconsistent, and easily shaken. Tonight we’re exploring why this instability is so dangerous, and why pursuing God’s wisdom is essential for a grounded, Christ‑shaped life.

As we lean into Part 7, let’s allow the Word to steady us, strengthen us, and call us into a deeper dependence on the wisdom that only God can give.
