Trinity Lutheran Seminary at Capital University is searching for the next Rector and Dean. Hear these words of Dr. Jared Tice, President of the University, from this year’s Trinity Days (excerpted from his longer talk, regarding who will serve on the search committee).

“I personally invited Dr. Christian M. M. Brady, President of Wittenberg University, to serve. That was very intentional. Christian is not only a university president. He is an accomplished biblical scholar, an Episcopal priest and Canon Theologian, and a leader who understands the intersection of faith, scholarship, institutional leadership, and vocation.

And Wittenberg belongs in this conversation.

Trinity is the product of two historic streams of Lutheran theological education: the Evangelical Lutheran Theological Seminary, from which Capital itself emerged, and the Hamma Divinity School of Wittenberg University. Those two institutions came together in 1978 to form Trinity Lutheran Seminary.
Christian’s participation honors that shared history while also helping us strengthen that relationship for the future.”

Hear these words from Dr. Jared Tice, President of the University) that he spoke at this year’s Trinity Days (excerpted from his longer talk):

"What does it mean for Trinity Lutheran Seminary to flourish now—as a seminary of the ELCA, as a graduate theological school in a changing landscape, and as a vital part of Capital University?

You will notice that the title has changed from Dean to Rector and Dean. That is not a change in the governance of the Seminary or in the authority of the position. The Dean remains Trinity’s chief executive and administrative officer within Capital University. Rather, adding Rector more fully acknowledges the ecclesial and public dimensions of the role. Within theological education, particularly in embedded seminaries, the title recognizes that the leader is doing more than administering an academic unit.

This person represents the Seminary to the church, cultivates relationships across denominations and communities, helps shape worship and formation, and serves as a theological and ecclesial leader beyond the University."

October 5–6, 2026, several ELCA Region 6 interns and their supervising pastors gathered at the Bergamo Center for a time of retreat, reflection, learning, and fun.

Participants from Ohio and Michigan represented three ELCA seminaries: Luther Seminary (St. Paul, MN), Wartburg Theological Seminary (Dubuque, IA), and Trinity Lutheran Seminary at Capital University (Columbus, OH).

We give thanks for these emerging church leaders, their dedicated supervisors, and the opportunity to strengthen relationships and accompany one another in the journey of ministry and formation.

Together, we are forming leaders for Christ's church at work in the world!

Trinity Days was a joy. We gathered voices of Trinity past and future: alumni, faculty, students, and friends from across the wider university community, all under one roof.
We were honored to hear lectures from the Rev. Dr. Mark Allan Powell, noted New Testament scholar and longtime Trinity faculty member, and delighted to welcome his wife, Melissa Curtis Powell, who served for many years as Trinity's financial aid director before the merger. We can't thank them enough for coming back and being here with us!
We worshipped together, and the house was packed.

Today the church remembers, Francis of Assisi who died in 1226.

Born into the family of a wealthy merchant, Francis gave up his inheritance to serve poor people. He formed the Order of Friars Minor (called Franciscans), who took on poverty and the task of preaching, "using words if necessary." Francis had a spirit of gratitude for all of God's creation.

Today we remember St. Francis of Assisi and we give thanks for our Canine Ambassador, Gunner. Thank you, God for animals who serve, love, and protect.
