Some projects are too much fun to talk about once the surprise is finally over. 🤗

This one was nearly 10 months in the making! 🤫

It started with someone who wanted to give a truly meaningful gift. With the help of a mutual friend and fellow craftsman, they hand selected the perfect handles. Those handles were then carried hundreds of miles before making their way to my little workshop. Deals like this rely on good ol’ fashioned trading, bartering, and maker-to-maker exchanges. The kind built on a handshake, bound by a person’s word, and mutual respect and trust. These are my favorite ways to work.

From there, it was my turn. I took those carefully chosen handles and built a pair of custom besoms, knowing that every step leading up to them had been filled with purpose and intention.

What I appreciate most about projects like this is that they remind me what traditional craftsmanship is really about. It is people looking out for one another, sharing skills and resources, honoring their word, and creating something with lasting meaning. These besoms are more than handmade. They are the result of months of quiet planning, trusted friendships, and many hands working together to honor two people who are deeply loved.
