Throughout history and even today, we see people using their positions, knowledge, and influence for personal gain rather than truth and justice. But only the wicked manipulate knowledge to mislead or oppress others. Allah warns us about this in the Quran:

“And do not mix the truth with falsehood or conceal the truth while you know [it].” (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:42)

True knowledge should lead to humility, sincerity, and guidance.

The Prophet ﷺ said: “The believers, in their mutual love, mercy, and compassion, are like a single body.” (Muslim)

You can decide right now during the holy month of Ramadan to choose understanding over argument, kindness over criticism, and brotherhood over division. We should extend these efforts beyond this month as well. May Allah accept our fasting, prayers, and efforts to strengthen our hearts and communities. Ameen.

And the Messenger will say, ‘O my Lord, indeed my people have taken this Qur’an as [a thing] abandoned.’” (Surah Al-Furqan: 30)

It is a beautiful accomplishment to read the Qur’an in its entirety and even better to recite its words in the manner they were revealed. But our duty doesn’t end there.

𝐔𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐐𝐮𝐫’𝐚𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭. It is the guide sent by Allah, not only to be read but to be lived by. It is a miracle, preserved in its original form, containing wisdom and clarity for every generation.

𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐭𝐨𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐐𝐮𝐫’𝐚𝐧? 𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐮𝐩𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬?

Allah has blessed us with guidance through this Book, and it is a gift we should thank Him for every day. May Allah allow us to live by its teachings, recognize its truth, and never abandon it. Ameen.

𝐖𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐚𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐬𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞.

Shaytan thrives on ignorance and loves to cast doubts in our hearts. It’s vital that we make learning our deen a priority. Whether we are reverts or born Muslims, Islam should be a religion we have reasoned and committed to with understanding.

We must prepare ourselves for the questions of the grave:
𝟏. 𝐖𝐡𝐨 𝐢𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐋𝐨𝐫𝐝?
𝟐. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧?
𝟑. 𝐖𝐡𝐨 𝐢𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐡𝐞𝐭?

If you feel there’s an area where you lack knowledge or could improve, seek out a knowledgeable scholar or a trusted brother or sister who can guide you in the right direction. Don’t hesitate to ask about their background and ensure they adhere to the authentic Qur’an and Sunnah.

Remember, not everyone who claims to be a source of knowledge follows the correct path. Be discerning and intentional with where you seek your understanding of Islam. Knowledge is a light, and through it, we strengthen our faith and shield ourselves from the whispers of Shaytan.

𝐋𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐢𝐬𝐡, 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐝𝐢𝐞.

Love whomever you want, but remember that you will eventually part from them. Reflect on death and the gravity of the Day of Qiyyamah. If we truly pondered its reality, we wouldn’t be comfortable with our shortcomings or flaunt them openly. We wouldn’t imitate those who disbelieve or chase after their ways. Allah has warned us, sent messengers, and provided guidance. Alhamdulillah.

Fear Allah and the Day of Judgment, for Allah is Al-‘Adl (The Just), fully aware of all we do. Whatever we invest our time and efforts into will either benefit us or weigh against us in the scales of judgment.

As Ramadan approaches, let’s remember that some of our brothers and sisters didn’t live to witness another one. I pray Allah allows us to reach Ramadan and benefit from it fully. May this reflection settle in our hearts and protect us from the fitnah of lust, indecency, and doubts about our deen.

May Allah safeguard us and guide us to what pleases Him. Ameen.

Surround yourself with those who want good for you.

Above your position, status, or culture, you are Muslim. Serving Allah, our Creator and Sustainer, is the ultimate purpose of our existence.

Take a moment to reflect on your week—your interactions, the places you’ve been, and how you’ve spent your time. Ask yourself: Would Allah be pleased? Have the people around you encouraged you to do good, to remember Him, and to grow closer to Him?

The Prophet ﷺ said:
“A person is upon the religion of their close friend, so let one of you look at whom you befriend.” (Tirmidhi)

When you place your head to the floor in sujood, know that you are safe. You are in the most intimate position with your Lord, pouring out your heart to the One who already knows your pain, your fears, and your struggles.

The Prophet ﷺ said:
“The closest that a servant comes to his Lord is when he is prostrating, so make plenty of du’aa.” (Muslim)

𝐇𝐮𝐫𝐭 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐭 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞.

It’s a phrase we’ve all likely heard or even experienced. With everything happening in the world, it’s natural to feel overwhelmed or frustrated. But as Muslims, we’re reminded to rise above our nafs and respond with patience and mercy, no matter how hard it may seem.

Allah tells us in the Qur’an:
“Repel [evil] by that [deed] which is better; and thereupon the one whom between you and him is enmity [will become] as though he was a devoted friend.” (41:34)

Islam is not meant to be a burden. Allah commands us to do things with infinite wisdom. He is the Creator of all, and He knows what is revealed and what is concealed.

To truly understand the wisdom behind these commands, we must look deeper into the context and backgrounds of the Qur’an and Hadith. This knowledge can help shed light on why certain things are required and others are prohibited, guiding us on what we might need to start or stop doing in our lives. It is through this understanding that we can align ourselves more closely with the will of Allah.

We can find context in these places:
1. The Qur’an 📖
2. The Hadith 💬
3. The Seerah of the Prophet ﷺ 🕌
4. The lives of the Sahabah 👥
5. The Tafseer of Scholars 📚
6. Islamic History ⏳

As we approach Ramadan, make preparations to ensure it is a successful month where you prioritize your deen above all things. This requires reflection, accountability, and action.

If you know something is not good for you, remove it from your life. Ask Allah to help you if it’s difficult, and increase your discipline in all aspects. May Allah make this Ramadan a time of growth and spiritual success for us all.

The Provision of Food

Allah provides us with the sustenance we need, from the food we eat to the resources to grow it. He gives us what is necessary to nourish our bodies.
“And He it is who sends down the rain after they had despaired, and spreads His mercy. And He is the protector, the praiseworthy.” (Surah Ash-Shura, 42:28)
