UMC Disaster Response

Thanks to the generous gifts received during the 2025 Missouri Annual Conference, two additional disaster response trailers have been fully equipped and deployed! This spring, ManchesterUMC in the Northeast District and Waypoint United Methodist Church in the Southeast District received trailers and are eager to put them to work serving their communities.

Each trailer is stocked with essential disaster response equipment, including chainsaws, wheelbarrows, tarps, and other tools needed for debris removal and muck-out work following storms and other disasters. These resources are available to support Early Response Teams during deployments across Missouri and beyond. When not responding to disasters, the trailers will be used by the churches to serve neighbors through local mission and community service projects.

Following disastrous weather in Joplin, the Early Response team deployed. We had a team of five, that arrived on June 21 and worked through June 24. The team completed approximately 135 hours of work over nine properties, all with tree and debris removal.
