Columbia Hill Cemetery

Columbia Hill Cemetery A beautiful and historic landmark cemetery and park in our quaint little town. Blanks, Sheriff in 1850.

Prior to the Civil War, a Yellow Fever epidemic claimed over half of the townspeople who were buried here in graves without permanent markers. The earliest marker in the cemetery is that of Margaret Snow Blanks (1833-1855) daughter of Judge William P. Snow, Caldwell's first Parish Judge/ex-officio President in 1835 and wife of Joseph D. She was buried here due to the Methodist Church Cemetery bein

g full and subject to river flooding. This is the final resting place of those who molded our community; good neighbors, church and civic leaders, heroes and heroines, and a few bandits. This beautiful setting of nature, an inspiring Work of our Lord, has comforted and touched the hearts and souls of many.
