In the Gospel lesson last Sunday (Matthew 9:35–10:8), Jesus looked at the crowds and was moved with compassion. He didn’t simply notice their pain. He moved toward it. Compassion, at its heart, is love in motion.
The poet Rumi wrote:
"In this earth,
in this immaculate field,
we shall not plant any seeds
except for compassion,
except for love."
What if that became our practice this week? What if every conversation, every encounter, every decision became an opportunity to sow seeds of compassion? The world gives us plenty of reasons to plant fear, anger, and division. Christ calls us to something better.
May we be people who truly see others, move toward those who are hurting, and leave behind a harvest of love wherever we go.
