You can try to ignore Jesus, oppose Him, or follow Him. History shows us that ignoring doesn't work—His influence is too powerful. And opposition? Rome tried. Empires fell. Yet Christianity thrives.

The Pharisees feared Jesus would take their power, so they plotted His death. Ironically, the cross they meant to silence Him became the very means of unleashing His influence on the world. Every kingdom that stood against Christ has crumbled, but He remains.

Today, many admire Jesus from a distance—comfortable with private faith but silent in public. That's a dangerous middle ground. Following Jesus openly may cost you comfort, approval, or status, but it's a small price compared to what He paid for you.

The choice is clear: a death sentence for your rebellion against a holy God, or the gift of grace, mercy, and eternal life through Christ. Don't be a fool who ignores or opposes this offer. Lay down your life for the One who laid His down for you.

📣 Who's Who Wednesday

Elder Joshua Gielow came to faith in the middle 90's and has been serving the Lord in various ministries ever since. He is our clerk of session and facilitates the singing at King's Church. He's been married to Lael for 20 years and they have 6 children - Isaac, Moses, Abraham, Tikvah, Enoch, and Havah.

He has a love for serving the Lord and His people and we are thankful for how he serves and shepherds our congregation at King's Church so well.

"I love your church, O Lord!
Her saints before you stand,
dear as the apple of your eye
and graven on your hand."
-Hymn #405 Trinity Psalter Hymnal

This powerful message confronts us with an unavoidable reality: we cannot ignore Jesus Christ. Drawing from John 11:45-57, we witness the religious leaders' panic after Lazarus walks out of his tomb—a miracle so undeniable that it forces everyone to choose sides. The Pharisees admitted Jesus performed many signs, yet their response wasn't humble reconsideration but desperate self-preservation. They feared losing their power, their influence, their comfortable positions. This reveals a timeless truth: if Jesus is Lord, we cannot be. If He defines reality—marriage, identity, family, morality—then we don't get to. The passage exposes three responses to Jesus that echo through history into our present moment: we can try to ignore Him, actively oppose Him, or fully follow Him. History proves the futility of the first two options. Rome's emperors from Nero to Diocletian tried brutally crushing Christianity, yet the faith outlasted every evil empire. Today, we're challenged to examine our own response. Are we casual admirers who like Jesus enough to attend church but not enough to publicly identify with Him? Are we standing in a comfortable but dangerous middle ground, hoping to avoid the cost of true discipleship? The call remains clear: follow Jesus openly, even when it costs us comfort, approval, or status. We serve a King whose throne isn't up for election, whose kingdom survives every age, and who offers us not a death sentence for our crimes against Him, but the gift of grace, pardon, and eternal life.

Death feels wrong because it IS wrong. It was never supposed to happen. It's an intruder, an enemy—Scripture calls it "the last enemy."

In John 11, we witness something extraordinary: Jesus doesn't tiptoe around death or make light of it. He walks right up to the tomb and rebukes it. When Jesus saw Mary and Martha grieving their brother Lazarus, He wept with them. He felt the crushing weight of loss. But then He did what only He can do—He commanded, "Lazarus, come out!" And the dead man walked.

This isn't just about one miracle 2,000 years ago. This is your future. If you're in Christ, the grave isn't your destination—it's just a stop along the way. The same voice that called Lazarus will call you. And on that day, there will be no more funerals, no more tears, no more death. When in doubt, trust. Jesus is the resurrection and the life.

📣 WHO'S WHO WEDNESDAY

Elder Robert Keisler is a lifelong follower of Christ, "I committed my life to the Lord and was baptized at age 13. God has always been the center of my journey, and I’m grateful to be growing closer to Him with each passing day." He is happily married to his wonderful wife, Cindy, for 17 years. After losing his first wife in 2006, he's been blessed with a beautiful, growing family. Proud father to Rob (Jenny), Josh (Shelly), David (Erin), Michelle, and Mark (Minah). He's a grandfather to 15 amazing grandkids, with number 16 on the way!

We are thankful for the way the Lord has worked in Robert's life and for his leadership at King's Church.

This powerful exploration of John 11 confronts us with the reality that death is not something we ever truly make peace with - and for good reason. Unlike taxes or aging, death feels fundamentally wrong because it is wrong. It was never part of God's original design. Through the story of Lazarus, we witness Jesus stepping into the graveyard of our fallen world with both profound compassion and divine authority. What strikes us most is how Jesus doesn't tiptoe around death or make light of it - He weeps alongside those who grieve, demonstrating that being all-knowing and all-powerful doesn't cancel out His compassion. Yet in His grief, He also rebukes death with a commanding voice that raises the dead. This account offers us more than a miracle story; it's a preview of our own future resurrection. When we find ourselves in those agonizing waiting periods, wondering why God seems silent or slow to act, we must remember that His delays are never absences. His waiting is always motivated by love and strategic purpose. The central message resonates deeply: when in doubt, trust. Even when circumstances seem irreversible, even when it appears too late, we can say with Martha, 'Even now I know that whatever you ask from God, God will give you.' The grave is not our future - it's merely a stop along the way to eternal life with Christ.

Here's the good news that should shake you to your core: if you're in, you're in. Your salvation doesn't depend on your grip—it depends on His. You're not better at sinning than He is at saving. The same Jesus who walked through Solomon's colonnade declaring "I and the Father are one" is the Good Shepherd who has called you by name and will never let you go.

So stop trying to be impressive. Just be faithful. Be a witness. Like John the Baptist, you don't need to perform miracles—just point people to the One who does. That's enough. That's everything.

"Are you negotiating with Jesus or are you bowing?"

This Sunday we explored John 10:22-42, where Jesus declares the most secure promise in all of Scripture: "I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will sn**ch them out of my hand."

The Jews wanted a controllable Messiah—one who would affirm their agenda and serve their purposes. But Jesus didn't come to improve our little kingdoms. He came to topple them and establish His own forever kingdom. The good news isn't that we hold on tight enough, but that He holds us with an unbreakable grip.

You don't need to be impressive. You just need to be faithful. Like John the Baptist, who "did no sign" but pointed others to Christ—and many believed. Be that lighthouse. Stand firm. Shine bright. Your faithful witness saves lives.
