First Ecumenical Church

First Ecumenical Church Mission "The purpose of the Ecumenical Church is to bring people to Jesus. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments”.

Our Mission

ECUMENICAL CHURCH OF CHRIST

“To bring people to Jesus and membership into his family, develop them in Christlike maturity, equip them for ministry within the church and their mission in life, all in order to magnify God’s name.”

Share the VisionA Great Commitment to the Great Commandment and the Great Commission will build a Great Church. The Great Commandment

“Love the Lord your

God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might….Love your neighbor as yourself. (Matt. 22:37-40)

The Great Commission

“Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded.”
(Matt. 28:19-20)

Five “Keys” to our Mission

Membership: We incorporate God’s family into our fellowship
Maturity: We educate God’s people through discipleship
Ministry: We demonstrate God’s love through service
Mission: We communicate God’s Word through evangelism
Magnify: We celebrate God’s presence in worship

THE FIVE PURPOSES OF ECUMENICAL CHURCH OF CHRIST

Worship
Love the Lord with all your heart. The way to love God with all our heart is to worship Him. Worshiping God is the first purpose of the church. Ministry
Love your neighbor as yourself. Ministry is demonstrating God’s love to others by meeting their needs and healing their hurts in the name of Jesus. Ministry is more than attendance, ministry is service. Evangelism
Go and make disciples. It is our responsibility and privilege to share the good news wherever we go. Church growth is commanded by Jesus. God wants people to be saved. Fellowship
Fellowship is identification with the body of Christ. Going, baptizing, and teaching are the essential
elements of the disciple-making process. As Christians we are called to belong, not just believe. The
church is to provide fellowship for believers. Discipleship
Teaching them to obey. We are to educate God’s people. Discipleship is the process of helping people become more like Christ in their thoughts, feelings and actions. This process begins when a person is born again and continues throughout the rest of their life. We are called to reach people, but also to teach them. The Ecumenical Church is committed to supporting education and development of job skills; helping people meet food, clothing and shelter needs; working with children, families and the elderly; and providing support for health and recovery, locally and globally.
