Happy First Sunday! 💙⛪

Today we begin with the promise of Luke 2:25–38, where Simeon and Anna remind us that God is always faithful to His promises. Sometimes we wait, sometimes we wonder, and sometimes the answer comes in a way we never expected—but God is still working. 🙏🏽

As we worship together on this First Sunday, may we remember that every generation has a place in God’s story. From the youngest to the oldest, we are connected by faith, hope, love, and the promises of God.

💙 What a Wonderful Week at Virginia Wingard💚

It’s been a busy and blessed week at Virginia Wingard Memorial UMC! 🙌🏽

We started Sunday by welcoming two new members into our church family ❤️, celebrating our 5th Sunday together, and showing some birthday love to all of our August birthdays! 🎂🎉

We were also honored to present DS Rev. Dr. Anthony Hodge with a beautiful handmade quilt, lovingly created by our talented quilters. 🧵💙

Our ministry continued beyond the church walls as we packed snack backpacks for students at Rhame Elementary, helping make sure our community’s children have a little something extra when they need it. 🎒🍎

And the fun didn’t stop there! Our Daytimers kicked off their first meeting of the fall with food, fellowship, laughter, and wonderful music from the Greenview Old School Choir! 🎶👏🏽

From new members and birthdays to quilts, backpacks, music, and fellowship, it’s been a week full of faith, service, and community at Virginia Wingard!

✝️ What happens when we stop living only for ourselves and start living the way Jesus calls us to?

Today, August 30, we close out our Expanding Grace worship series with “Beyond Ourselves” from Matthew 16:21–28.

Following Jesus calls us to look beyond our own wants, comfort, and plans. God’s grace changes the way we see ourselves, the way we serve others, and the way we live each day. 💙

Join us this morning as we discover what it means to move beyond self-interest and truly live the way of Jesus together.

This Sunday, August 23, we continue our Expanding Grace worship series with “Beyond the Question” from Matthew 16:13–20.

Some questions make us think. Others challenge us to look deeper at our faith and what we truly believe. Jesus’ question to His disciples still speaks to us today—and invites each of us to respond.

Join us as we move beyond uncertainty and discover how God’s grace strengthens our faith, shapes our understanding, and helps us confidently follow Jesus. 💚

Jesus challenges us to look beyond exclusion and recognize that God’s grace reaches farther, welcomes wider, and includes more than we sometimes imagine. 💜
