"Lord, I'm Coming Home": A Tribute to Sis. Beverly Murray
Life has so many twists and turns, and we always have to be prepared for the ride. But I will admit that on Monday, May 17, 2021, I was unprepared for the shock of my life: Our precious sister Beverly Murray went home to be with the Lord.
To know Sis. Beverly was to Love her. She was so vibrant, and every time she came into the house of the Lord, she had an unequivocal smile and natural glow that would light up any room. She loved the Lord, and that love was constantly on display. Some people say with their lips that they love you, but Beverly always went the extra mile to DEMONSTRATE that she loved you. She was always positive and speaking life into those who surrounded her. Whatever she put her mind to, she did it as unto the Lord; she made it a point to give her best, and God would anoint her works to be a blessing to others.
Beverly was the best cook, seamstress, educator, speaker... the best ANYTHING that she needed to be for God's glory. She was deeply spiritual, and had the revelation that she could do all things through Christ who strengthened her. She took care of others during their times of sickness and did it with so much grace and compassion.
Perhaps the biggest thing I will miss about Sis. Beverly was her amazing voice. She used her angelic gift to soothe the most troubled soul, and uplift the languished spirit right into the presence of the Lord. People were saved and delivered as the result of her singing ministry. Two weeks ago, she sang her final song, "Coming Home", perhaps not realizing that God was calling her home to receive her heavenly reward.
It really doesn't seem as though Beverly is gone-- her influence will be felt for some time. During her last service on Sunday, May 16th, she began to shout and praise God in reaction to the Word being preached. In fact, she said that she felt like running all over the sanctuary! But God was preparing her for the overwhelming joy she would experience the very next day when she departed this life and received a homecoming coronation from the saints that have already crossed over.
I will miss Beverly, but her determination to live a Christian life gives me divine inspiration to believe that the Lord is soon to come -THE RAPTURE IS AT HAND. I can still hear her voice along with those in my church who have gone before bidding me to, "Keep pressing On"!!! Today, I believe that Sis Beverly has taken her position and is singing in the heavenly choir. And even though her voice has been silenced here on the earth, I believe that she is alive in another dimension, and is now reaping the heavenly reward she so diligently sought.

HER PORTRAIT HANGS WITHIN THE ETERNAL HALLS OF FAITH
Sis. Brittany Chisholm was used mightily by the Lord, but didn’t realize it. For the past 10 years, she valiantly battled cancer, and refused to look at the odds against her. In 2013, we decided to feature Brittany’s testimony on our church website, and entitled it: “Back From the Dead”. The testimony featured one of Brittany’s bouts with cancer in which doctors declared her “BRAIN DEAD”. The cancer had spread all over her body, and she was swollen, unresponsive, and on the ventilator. But miraculously, the Lord raised her back up, and he began re-growing her colon, a true medical miracle. The impact from Brittany’s testimony resulted in thousands of views on our website for the 3.5 years in which we featured it. We would pass out cards to the community, and encourage them to read or listen to Brittany’s testimony on the website. Many people who heard about the miracle wept tears of joy; some spoke in unknown tongues; some just smiled. But just to know that there was still a God who could heal such an incurable condition which has been feared by so many was something that was deemed rare in such an age of rampant unbelief! From the time Brittany stepped into the ring to fight this disease, she had declared victory, and knew she would overcome because of her faith and favor with God. Year after year for the past ten years, Brittany would be in and out of the hospital, again waging war with the complications related to the cancer demon that dared her to live a normal life. Brittany refused to concede the fight---- Even in the instances when she coded and was resuscitated, she laughed in the Devil’s face as she cheated death yet once again. Brittany never let the condition hinder her praise and faith in God. She set out to enjoy life and ended up getting married 4 years ago. Her love for her husband, her new married life, and her relationship with God were her main focus. It was only recently that the cancer reared its ugly head one final time. The doctors again declared that Brittany could not live because the cancer had spread to the lungs, and impeded her ability to breathe. Desperate for victory, Brittany decided that the only way to win was to do the opposite of what anyone could imagine: EMBRACE her most FORMIDABLE foe---DEATH. So on last Thursday, Brittany chose to walk into the jaws of death and settle the fight once and for all---knowing that she would emerge victorious on the other side, having received the perfect body that she so earnestly desired.
Brittany displayed the ultimate courage, and I really admire her for it. Because at age 30, she chose to die on her own terms--- She looked death right into the face and refused to fear the one event that most people dread to think about. She so bravely said, “O death, where is your sting? O grave, where is your victory? Brittany was so smart to choose to live by dying---And by doing so, she has not only overcome EVERY sickness in this life, but has received eternal life once and for all.
When the disciples asked Jesus about the blind man: “Lord, who did sin, this man or his parents? “Jesus answered, “No one, but that the works of God may be made manifest”. Brittany did not enjoy suffering--- NO ONE does. But I believe that God may have ordained her suffering and victories to glorify him. I have seen more miracles during Brittany’s fight with cancer, than in all of my entire 28 years of walking with the Lord. We all have been put here for a purpose, and once we serve that purpose, God has made sure that we will depart this life to receive our reward. Brittany will be sorely missed, but I can’t help but think that she is smiling at us from the heavenly dimension while enjoying her new reward!!! bliss
