Then the LORD said to him, “Who has made man's mouth? Who makes him mute, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? Is it not I, the LORD? 12 Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall speak. Exodus 4:11-12

Through the years as I have faced new challenges there have been times when I wondered can I do this…do I have what it takes. Sometimes self-doubt is a reasonable response. Realistically I am probably not going to be a Super Bowl winning quarterback at my age. Sometimes our human desires and goals need to be adjusted.
But when God puts goals in our hearts it is a different story. I mean would God call us to do something if He wasn’t going to equip us to succeed? This was what Moses was thinking when God called him to go to Egypt and lead the Hebrews out of bo***ge. Moses gave God four different reasons/excuses as to why he couldn’t, and God gave him an answer for each one. God’s last answer was “I can make the mute speak, so equipping you to speak to Pharaoh is no big deal.” Moses went and succeeded because God equipped him for what He had called him to do!

Don’t let self-doubt tempt you to doubt God. Whatever God has called you to do with your life, He will empower you to do it!

Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ. 1 Corinthians 11:1

If somebody asked you to describe Jesus, how would you answer them? If you were an artist (maybe some of you are-not me), how would you articulate that onto your canvas. Most of us would probably give Him a beard, some shoulder length hair, a robe and maybe some sandals. We don’t know how much Jesus weighed or how tall He was, but we do have an idea about the type of clothes that were worn during His life.
Now let’s fast forward to the 21st century. Would He wear shorts, t-shirts, and flip flops, would He wear a business suit. Or would He wear jeans with His shirttail out? The truth is, He would look very much like us.

As Christians, this should challenge us to think about how we should look to the world we live in. Whether in a suit or in more casual clothing, we should be striving to look like Christ. He is our template on how we should act and speak in our world today. Our attitudes should reflect His example. We are His likenesses to our world, and He wants people to see Him in us.

When you look in the mirror each morning, ask God to help people see Jesus in you today…Pastor Freddy

When the days were coming to a close for him to be taken up, he determined to journey to Jerusalem. Luke 9:51

Pontius Pilate was the Roman Governor which history says sentenced Jesus to death by crucifixion. But did he really? In John 10 Jesus said, “This is why the Father loves me, because I lay down my life so that I may take it up again. “Jesus knew His purpose. He knew what He was on earth to do and He consistently reminded His disciples the cross was His ultimate destination. For mankind to be redeemed meant that there had to be a perfect sacrifice, blood would have to be shed, and a resurrection would need to occur. Jesus knew he was the answer to mankind’s redemption and that is why was determined to make it to Jerusalem.

Jesus was determined to fulfil His mission. Shouldn’t we turn our faces towards Him and determine to fulfill our mission as well?

From Max Lucado:

In Luke 15, Jesus tells three stories of something lost and something found. A lost sheep. A lost coin. And a lost son. At the end of each story, Jesus describes a celebration. The point is clear. Jesus is happiest when the lost are found.

Jesus rejoices because he knows what awaits the saved. In Heaven, you will at long last, have a heart just like his. Guiltless. Fearless. Tirelessly worshiping. Flawlessly discerning. Jesus also rejoices that we are saved from hell. He says there's only one sound there, and that is the "weeping and gnashing of teeth."

Every person you meet has been given an invitation to dinner. When one says yes, celebrate! When one hesitates, urge him to get ready. You don't want anyone to miss heaven.

Have a great weekend…Pastor Freddy

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. 1 Peter 1:3

People are afraid of all kinds of things; in fact a list of phobias has been put together to keep track of them. Today, we fear cancer and other incurable diseases, acts of terrorism are everywhere and the threat of an uncertain economy are some of the most common fears we have. However, for many people death is their greatest fear.

The truth is we have no control or certain hope for terrorism and disease. But we have great hope against death and that hope is found in the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Peter reminds us in our verse today that Christ’s resurrection is the basis for the hope we have for our daily lives. The apostle Paul wrote that our faith is hopeless if Christ wasn’t raised from the dead. But because He was resurrected, we have a living hope!

As a pastor, I visit people who are terminally ill, and their death is just around the corner However, I often find them not fearful but ready to embrace death. Why…because they have trusted Christ as their Savior. If we can have hope in the face of death, we can have hope in the face of anything and everything else.

But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first. Revelation 2:4

Some of us have better memories than others and the older we get the more likely it is our memories will begin to fail us. Reminders are an important part of our lives. Some put reminders in their phones or outlook calendar, still others put sticky notes on the refrigerator or ask others, “Please remind me to...” Personally, I am still “old school” I write it down in my Day-Timer.

Just as we forget practical things in our life, if we are not careful, we will forget our spiritual commitments too. Jesus admonished the church at Ephesus for that very thing. They had let their love for Jesus’ fade as time passed by. They had forgotten the love they had for Him when they first were saved by faith. He told them to “repent and do good works, which are motivated by their love for Him, that reflected the early days of their faith.

The same thing can happen to us if we are not careful. We can grow complacent, and our faith can grow cold. I remind myself almost every morning of May 11th, 1978, when Jesus loved me so much that He came into a sin filled bar (Dock’s Rock Shop) and saved me for all eternity. 😊

Have you lost your first love…it is never too late to get it back (or find it for the first time). Have a great day…Pastor Freddy

For I know that through your prayers and the help of the Spirit of Jesus Christ this will turn out for my deliverance, Philippians 1:19

In the early 90’s a group from F.O.C.U.S (Fellowship of Christian Singles) in Asheville, NC traveled to Honduras on a mission trip. On this particular trip we ran PVC pipe from the top of the mountain down to the nearby villages. I don’t remember the distance we covered but I know it was a lot. This allowed them to have a clean water supply. But like with anything man does problems can develop. When there is a weak spot in the pipeline or a clog that develops then the water supply is cut off until it can be repaired.

In some ways the Holy Spirit in the life of a believer works similarly. The Holy Spirit flows into our hearts. When we have a healthy walk with the Lord this flow fills our hearts if there are no disruptions. However, sin can quench the Spirit and grieve the Spirit. But if we’re close to the Lord, we have access to the fullness of the Holy Spirit every moment, and that gives us the power to both live for and serve our Lord!

You might not think you’re worthy of serving the Lord. Truth is, none of us are! Yet our relationship with Jesus makes us worthy. When we submit our lives to Him, He then speaks His words into our lives which allow us to live and work for Him. Ask God to fill you with His Spirit today…Pastor Freddy

Remember those men and women who gave their lives so that we can enjoy the freedoms this country offers!

Most of all remember that Jesus gave His life so that you could have eternal life. John 15:13
