We are talking about the condition of our minds over the next month. Our mind is our most prized possession and the battlefield where the war is fought. Gaining control of your mind is imperative.

The time of Lent, a 40 day period that ends on Good Friday is here again. It represents the 40 days Jesus spent in the wilderness fasting. It is a time of fasting and reflection. During this Lenten season, I am choosing to spend that time reflecting and conducting a spiritual inventory of sorts. I encourage you to do the same.
Today's reflection is on the act of surrender. It never ceases to amaze me that while I was a sinner Christ surrendered His life that I might have mine eternally!
Every time I ponder that fact, I am forced to look inward. Am I capable of such? Have I surrendered my whole life TO Christ? What parts am I still holding on to?
What are you struggling to surrender today? Like me, do you struggle with yielding your will to His and with having to surrender your comfort. Whatever our struggles, we don't have to deal with them alone. We need to take them to the cross, to the one who came and gave His life that we might live an abundant life full of joy, peace, love, strength, and hope.

Surrender and live!

Day 6: Quiet time in His presence. What does that look like for you? Is it just a time for you to bring your issues to God? If so, change that beginning today! God wants a relationship with you, which implies that the communication needs to be a two way street. You talk, He listens. He talks, You listen! Spend time in His presence. Sing songs of praise to Him. Worship Him with all that you are - words, acts, deeds. Let them reflect the God you serve. Spend time listening to Him. He speaks in the still, small voice (1King 19:11-13). Can you hear Him? #2019

Day 5: Do old insecurities still plague you? Do you worry about fitting in or being good enough? We all have those moments, even the most confident among us! Those thoughts come from a place of fear and the way to fight them is with the Word of God. Choose to see yourself how God sees you.
1) You are a new creation in Christ. The old has gone, the new has come (2 Cor 5:17)
2) You shine like stars in the night (Phil 2:15)
3) You are chosen, God's special possession called out of darkness into light (1Peter2:9)
4) You are a joint heir with Christ (Rom 8:17)
Choose to live in the fullness of who you are in Christ!

Day 4: Welcome to the new you! The you that has said yes to God. Now your mind needs to be renewed. Just like new wine needs new wineskins (Mark 2:21-22), you, too, need a new mindset. You cannot receive a fresh word from God in your old mindset. Pray that God give you a fresh perspective, a new way of seeing things, the ability to see things through His eyes. What situation is God giving you a fresh perspective on? Share your thoughts! #2019

Day 3: Set apart for His purpose. Do you know God has a plan for your life? For that plan to be fully realized you need to 1) run away from anything that stirs wrong desires and 2) run after righteousness, love, and peace. Remember old things have passed away. He makes all things new. Ask Him to forgive old unrighteousness. Ask Him to create in you a clean heart, and to renew a right spirit within you - Ps51:10. Walk in purpose today! #2019
