A invitation to prayer from Koinonia of Columbia, Inc

Monday, June 8
1.) We give thanks today, Lord, for Eau Claire Baptist Church! Thank you for the hospitality ECBC has shown Koinonia for 9 years now and for ECBC’s 100+ year witness in the neighborhood. Thank you for ECBC’s hearty welcome to South Main this week and their stewardship of land for growing food!

2.) Let us pray for all the final preparations being made by the Koinonia & Texas mission teams – from packing to work projects to menus to travel details, etc!

3.) We lift heartfelt prayers this day for all those caring for the daily sustenance of the Texas and Koinonia mission teams in the provision of food. As Jesus so commonly related with others over table fellowship, we are grateful for the gift of table fellowship this week offered by the team’s chef, Mr. Bill and local caterers, Whitnee & Rico Spry (Spry’s Durty Kitchen) and Mrs. Carolyn Moore and the ECBC Team!

An Invitation to Prayer for Koinonia of Columbia, Inc and Eau Claire Baptist Church

The Isaiah Project: June 9-15, 2026
South Main Baptist, Houston ---Koinonia of Columbia --- Eau Claire Baptist
“The Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your needs in parched places and make your bones strong, and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water whose waters never fail.” – Isaiah 58:11 (Eau Claire, which is French for “clear water” most probably was named for a spring located about where Johnson Avenue & Main Street intersect today.)
“I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth.” – I Corinthians 3:6
“God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice, for they will be satisfied.”– Matthew 5:6
Koinonia Of Columbia envisions a diverse network of compassionate people who are anchored deep like a tree at a riverside in the belief that every individual can know and celebrate their God-given skills and talents. When we fly in formation together and when we live and work together for the common good, all may know community … KOINONIA!

Sunday, June 7
Today, we pray for the few Texas mission team leaders who are traveling and arriving a day early to begin making preparations for the week. Lord, we thank you for the vision of South Main Baptist! Thank you for directing their path toward Koinonia of Columbia! We are reminded of your abundance, God, through the outpouring of blessings we are receiving from South Main Baptist! We open our hands and hearts to be good stewards of the GIFTS poured through us….. for our neighbors.
Help us, Lord, to “fly in formation together, working together for the common good!” May our work together turn into fresh vegetables and fruit for our neighbors for this summer and beyond! We lift prayers for our Eau Claire neighbors and for our Board Chair who is also the elected president of the Belmont community, Mr. Richard Hammond

Sharing or history Part I : On this date June 7,1921 (105 years ago), a small group of baptists of Eau Claire met at the home of G.C. Livingston for the purpose of considering the organzation of a Baptist Church in this area. After prayer and discussion by these few, a meeting was scheduled at Hyatt Park School on June 26,1921, and on that date the Bethel Baptist Church was organzied.
Charter Members: Mr. and Mrs. E.G. Aldridge, Mr. and Mrs. Blalock, Mrs. N.C. Dickert, Miss Ella Dickert, Mrs. G.H. Sherer, Miss Merle Sherer, Mr. and Mrs. L.E. Spann and Mr. Leon Still.
The Rev. J.A. Atkins served as Pastor

In July, 1921, the church purshased land on Ensor Ave. on which to eract a building. In October, 1922 this lot was exchanged with the Monticello Land Company for 3 lots on North Main Street, where the present church building now stands.

Stay tuned for more of our history.....
