"This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh." Galatians 5:16
"Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revelings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in the time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the Kingdom of God." Gal. 5:19-21

Paul is speaking to the Church. These works of the flesh should be repulsive to a true Believer. Here is a quick definition of each one.
Adultery-unlawful sexual relations between men and women, single or married
Fornication-All sexual activity outside of marriage
Uncleanness-Sexual impurity that includes so**my, homosexuality, lesbianism, pe******ia, be******ty and any other form of sexual perversion.
Idolatry- Image worshipping, including anything on which affections are passionately set.
Witchcraft-Sorcery, the practice of dealing w/evil spirits, casting spell, etc.
Hatred- enmity, abhorrence, malice, ill-will against anyone
Variance- discord, disputes, lack of unity
Emulations-envy, jealousy, uncurbed rivalry, stiving to excel at the expense of another
Wrath-rage, hostility, determined and lasting anger
Strife-heated disagreements, conflict, discord
Seditions- stirring up strife and divisions, destroying unity
Heresies- A Doctrine which is true as it relates to its basic foundation but is taken to extremes all out of proportion to its original intent.
Envyings-ill will and jealousy at the good fortune or blessings of another
Murders-to kill or even to destroy another's reputation or character
Drunkenness-living intoxicated, a slave to drink
Revellings-lascivious and boisterous feastings w/obscene music and other sinful activities, pleasures and carousings
And such like-this list is examples of works of the flesh, not a complete list

The Holy Spirit through Paul says those that practice these things shall not inherit the Kingdom of God. The Bible does not teach sinless perfection. When a Believer fails, he is to repent and if that is done with a sincere heart, the Lord will always forgive. But any man who chooses to live by the flesh and produce its works, will be excluded from the Kingdom of God.

Come join us on Sunday mornings at 10:00 and Wednesday Night at 6:00. Everyone is welcome.

"Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?" Galatians 4:16

Paul, in this statement to the Galatian church/churches, is attempting to draw the Believers back to Faith in Jesus Christ and His Atoning Work at Calvary. False teachers had come in and perverted the Gospel of Christ by falsely claiming that the Mosaic Law must also be kept by Believers in order for them to be Justified (declared innocent) in the Eyes of God. Paul is attempting, in this letter, to bring them back to Truth.

What is Truth? John 14:6 says that Jesus is Truth. John 17:17 says the Word of God is Truth. John 16:13 says the Holy Spirit is Truth.

It is the responsibility of the God-called Preacher of the Gospel to present Truth and not what he thinks the people want to hear. He presents Truth in love but, he must always seek the Lord for his messages and then preach what "thus saith the Lord". The Church becomes a business when the people are asked and then given what they "want" rather than giving them Jesus, by the Word of God proclaimed under the anointing of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus said, "If you love Me, keep my Commandments." Jn. 14:15
James said, "But be ye doers of the Word..." James 1:22
John said, "If we say that we have fellowship with Him and walk in darkness, we lie and do not the Truth." 1 Jn 1:6
Paul said, "Let everyone who names the Name of Christ depart from iniquity." II Tim. 2:19
Peter said, "...be ye Holy in all manner of conversation (lifestyle)."
1 Peter 1:15
Jude said, "...earnestly contend for the Faith which was once delivered to the Saints. For there are certain men crept in unawares...turning the Grace of God into lasciviousness." v.3-4

Am I become your enemy because I tell you the Truth?

Please, join us on Sunday Mornings at 10:00 and Wednesday Nights at 6:00. Everyone is welcome.

"And you has He quickened (made alive), who were dead in trespasses and sins; wherein in time past you walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air (Satan), the spirit that now works in the children of disobedience (the unredeemed): among whom also we all had our conversation (manner of life) in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
BUT GOD, Who is rich in Mercy (and it comes to us by means of the Cross), for his great Love, wherewith He loved us, even when we were dead in sins, has quickened us together with Christ, (by grace you are saved.)"
Ephesians 2:1-5

Paul tells us what we, once, were and then reminds us, BUT GOD!!!
We were bound by alcohol, but God!
We were bound my drugs, but God!
We were bound by po*******hy, but God!
We were sinners on our way to Hell, but God!
We were children of wrath, children of disobedience, but God!
Amen and Amen!

Years I spent in vanity and pride, caring not my Lord was crucified, knowing not it was for me He died on Calvary.

Mercy there was great, and grace was free: pardon there was multiplied to me; there my burdened soul found liberty at Calvary.

Oh, the love that drew Salvation's Plan! Oh, the grace that brought it down to man! Oh, the mighty gulf that God did span at Calvary.

Come worship with us...everyone is welcome!

In the beginning, God created...
And God said, "Let Us make man in Our Image, after Our Likeness..."
God said, ..."you shall not eat of it for in the day that you eat thereof, you shall surely die."
God called and said, "Where are you?"
The Lord God said, "What is this that you have done?"

We have two and a half Chapters in the beginning of God's Word that explains where man came from and how he became what he, now, is...sinful, lost, enemies of God, children of disobedience, children of wrath, spiritually dead, etc.
In Genesis 3:15, God says a "Promised Seed" of the woman would come into a, now, fallen world.
The "Promised Seed" would come and pay the debt man now owed to God and He would satisfy the demands of the Righteousness of God as well as, totally and completely, defeat Satan.
From the middle of Genesis Chapter 3 on, the Word of God is built upon the Foundation of the "Promised Seed"!

But, when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth His Son made of a woman, under the Law to redeem them that were under the Law.
The "Promised Seed", the Savior of the World, God's Son became incarnate in the human race through the virgin birth.
He would be completely obedient to God's Law.
He would take the penalty of a broken law, which was death, for all of mankind, for all of mankind were Lawbreakers.
He would pay the price for man's Redemption by His Death as an Atoning Sacrifice.
He would destroy the works of the devil and there is so much more that could be added to this list!
All of this was accomplished on the Cross of Calvary.

So, as we celebrate His Coming, let's not forget WHY He came.
As we celebrate His Coming, let's remember He came to lay down His Life on Calvary's Cross that we might have life...in Him!

"For the time will come when they will not endure sound Doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears." II Timothy 4:3

Paul wrote this to Timothy some 2000 years ago and we're seeing it come to pass in our lifetime. The word endure means "put up with". The word sound, in the Greek, means "healthy for the soul, uncorrupt, wholesome. So, Paul is saying the time will come when professing Christians will not put up with hearing instruction and teaching that is uncorrupted or in other words, they don't want to hear the Truth of God's Word. Paul said after their own desires and longings for what is forbidden, they will accumulate teachers that will tell them something that is pleasing and gratifying that their ears are itching for. Too many people are unwilling to live the life the Bible teaches is necessary to be lived by those who are in "in Christ". They are desiring a self-indulgent life instead and are looking for preachers that will soothe their conscience while they live this lifestyle.

Paul writes in the next verse that these people have no desire to hear Truth but only want to hear what pleases them and they will choose "fiction" over "fact" or "false" over "Truth". Isaiah said of Judah in 30:10, "Which say to the seers, see not; and to the Prophets, prophecy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth sayings, prophesy deceits." Too many Preachers today don't want to preach Truth because too many professing Believers don't want to hear Truth. In case there's a question about what Truth is...Jesus said unto Him, I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Jn. 14:6

If you're looking for Truth, please join us on Sunday morning at 10:00. Everyone is welcome.

Remember when?

-Remember when you attended a church service and there was much reverence for the things of God? Man wasn't attempting to bring the Lord down to his level by making the things of God casual.
You came dressed in your best out of reverence to the Lord.
You didn't take food and drinks into the Sanctuary out of respect and reverence for the House of God.
There were no phones going off or being looked at during service.
Children were taught to be still and be reverent.

-Remember when the Church didn't resemble a nightclub?

There were no dark Sanctuaries with black walls, flashing lights and fog machines.
The songs sung were not worldly songs but were songs about the Blood of Jesus that washes sinful man clean, the Cross where He redeemed man, the Sacrifice He made and the Price He paid so "whosoever" could be saved by Faith.
The music wasn't so loud that the words of praise couldn't be heard.
There was no entertainment offered just simple worship in Spirit and in Truth.

-Remember when Preachers preached Truth?

They sought the Lord about what to preach, not the computer or the "home office" of the denomination.
They still preached, Jesus Saves, Jesus Baptizes in the Holy Spirit, Jesus Heals and Jesus is coming again!
They still taught the Truth of God's Word concerning sin, hell, Holy Living, being Overcomers and Victorious in this world.

-Remember when the Church had the answer for hurting, sinful man?

The Church didn't offer man's way, which is counseling, rehab, AA, etc. The Church offered the only solution there is for sinful, bound, depraved, confused, hurting man and that solution is Jesus Christ. There is no other answer
There's still a Church like this in Columbia. We're small. We have no entertainment. Like Paul, we have no gimmicks, just Truth, which is Jesus Christ. If you're looking for a place like this, we'd love to have you join us on Sunday Mornings at 10:00. Everyone is welcome!

"Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you."
II Cor. 6:17

To "come out from among them" is referring to unbelievers and idolaters (Isaiah 52:11) Believers are not expected to isolate themselves but to "separate" themselves from this world and its corrupting influences. Separate in the Greek means "to set off by boundary, to exclude certain things. This means that there are certain places the Lord does not want the Believer to go. There are certain things He doesn't want the Believer to say. There are certain things He does not want the Believer to do. The Believer is to separate themselves from the sinful practices, customs and habits of this ungodly world.

To "touch not the unclean thing" refers to the Believer avoiding all unholy contact with a polluted world. Unclean means that which is impure, immoral. lewd or foul. In other words, anything in body and in spirit that is contrary to our Righteousness in Christ, contrary to the Word of God and contrary to Jesus is to be avoided as we are the living Sanctuary of God. We are not to "touch" those things nor even "think" on those things.

If we are obedient to His Command, the Lord says, "I will receive you." The next verse says He will be a Father unto us, and we shall be his sons and daughters! Of all the honors and awards this world offers, nothing can even come close to being a son or daughter of the Maker of heaven and earth, the One and Only, True and Living God! What a privilege!

As Believers, we are to be Ambassadors for Christ. Can the world look at us, listen to us, watch us, follow us and see Him in our life? Or are we so entwined with this world that someone would be hard pressed to pick us out of a crowd? "for what fellowship has Righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion has light with darkness?" (II Cor. 6:14)

Please, join us for service this Sunday at 10:00. Everyone is welcome.

"But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness." II Timothy 2:16

Profane in the Greek means heathenish, wicked and unholy. Vain in the Greek means, empty and hollow. Paul's statement here in II Timothy tells us that all false doctrine does not leave its victims as they were found, but in a worse condition than they were beforehand. Regardless of how clever or intellectual a Preacher may sound, if he's not Preaching the Gospel, which is Jesus Christ and His Atoning Work on Calvary or as Paul would say, "Christ Crucified", he's preaching false doctrine. Paul said these wicked, unholy, empty and hollow babblings will only lead to more ungodliness.

When the Church leaves the Cross of Christ, it drifts on its own for the Holy Spirit is no longer present. Jesus said in John that when the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth is come, "He will glorify Me". The Holy Spirit will not glorify a denomination, a Preacher or anything devised by man. He will glorify Jesus, alone. Paul preached Christ Crucified for though Christ lived a perfect and sinless life, performed wonderful, life-changing miracles and taught and preached like no other, none of that saved anyone. It was at the Cross that man's debt to God was paid by the Precious Lamb of God. He, alone, could pay this debt.

The modern Church has ceased, for the most part, to preach Christ Crucified and are now offering the people profane and vain babblings. The departure from the Cross of Christ has opened the door for foolishness and ungodliness to come into the Church. Paul said the Gospel of Christ is the Power of God unto Salvation to everyone who believes. He said, "I determined not to know anything among you save Jesus Christ and Him Crucified." He said, Christ sent me to preach the Gospel...for the preaching of the Cross is to them who perish foolishness but unto us who are Saved it is the Power of God.

The only way that people can be saved, delivered, changed, set free is by the Cross of Christ being preached. This, alone, is God's Way. Anything else is man devised.

Please, join us Sunday Morning at 10:00. Everyone is welcome.

"Study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman who needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth." II Tim. 2:15

In the Greek, the word "study" means-to make every effort, be diligent, endeavor. The word "show" in the Greek means, present and the word "approved" is acceptable in the Greek. So, Paul is saying, Make your best effort to present yourself acceptable unto God. Believers should have a desire to live a life pleasing to the Lord and as Paul wrote, make every effort to do so.

He also said that Believers are "workman" or laborers, in the Greek. We are all to share the Gospel with a lost and dying world. Everyone may not be called to be an Evangelist or Pastor, but we've all been called to tell others about Jesus. The woman at the well simply said, "Come see a man..."

Paul finished this statement up with the command to "rightly divide the Word of Truth." In the Greek, this means to "correctly dissect" the Word of God. It is impossible to rightly divide God's Word without a full understanding of the Cross for the Story of the Bible IS the Story of the Cross. Paul said Jesus Christ is the Foundation (I Cor. 3:11) and Peter said He was foreordained before the foundation of the world that He would redeem fallen man with His Precious Blood. (I Peter 1:18-20). If the church rejects the Cross of Christ, it will never "rightly divide" God's Word.

Come join us each Sunday morning at 10:00. Everyone is welcome.

"And the things that you have heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to Faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also." II Timothy 2:3

Paul was the one who was chosen by Christ to be the recipient of the New Covenant (Gal. 1:12). He knew the Gospel more than any other person in the world of that day. Paul gave his all to protect the Gospel from being added to, diluted or compromised in any way. He now tells Timothy this responsibility will fall on him as well as every other TRUE Preacher of the Gospel. The word "faithful" here, in the Greek, means "trustworthy". The trustworthy men, Paul speaks of, will preach and teach the accuracy of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They will not compromise God's Word!

Most Believers look for and attend a Church for all the wrong reasons. There should be only two reasons for a particular Church being selected:
1. The uncompromised Word of God is being preached.
2. The Anointing of the Holy Spirit is upon that Word.

The modern church has become a "religious business" with much activity, entertainment and compromise. Paul told Timothy to, "stir up", "hold fast", "be strong" and "Preach the Word!" To that we say, "Amen and Amen"!

Come join us this Sunday at 10:00. Everyone is welcome.
