Most of us in today’s church, in the pews and even the pulpit, have been insufficiently discipled or not discipled at all, and it’s showing now more than ever! We cannot make disciples of others, because we can’t lead people to where we haven’t been. A combination of Ineffectiveness in the pulpits and indifference in the pews has created churches heavy with church-goers, but scarce with disciples. We can’t go on preaching to emotions and carnal desire if we’re going to strengthen the local church. We need a serious recommitment to “making disciples.” Good church can’t be the goal! Personal growth and making disciples must be the goal if the church is going to thrive in the days ahead.
