Matthew 5:17,18 Why did Jesus fulfill the law? Was it a duty he owed to the Father? He was God incarnate, so white did he need to fulfill the law. He was before the law, and as part of the Godhead, he authored the law. Why did he have to fulfill the law? Did he need to prove his righteousness to the Father? Why did Jesus have to fulfill the law? What did he owe the law?

People often use this scripture to say that we are still under the Old Testament Covenant and Mosaic law. They think they’re making a valid point until we answer WHY he needed to keep the law. Jesus did not need to keep the law for himself, and if not for himself, then for whom? If he kept it and fulfilled it on our behalf, then why are we still trying to keep olds testament laws that were done away with in Christ?
