Sunday, August 23rd- The Foundry spent their Sunday doing what we believe the Church is called to do: Serve!

The Foundry community came together to help families who were affected by the recent floodings. Missions are one of our favorite things to do together because we believe faith was never meant to be lived from the sidelines. We want to be a people who love God by loving others—putting our faith into action and being the hands and feet of Jesus wherever we can.

We’re so thankful for everyone who gave their time, energy, and strength to make a difference. What a privilege it is to serve together.

And if you’ve been looking for a community where you can grow, serve, belong, and be part of something bigger than yourself—we’d love for you to find your place at The Foundry.

If you belong to a church long enough, eventually it will disappoint you.

Someone will make a decision you disagree with.

A ministry you love will change.
A song you dislike will be sung.
Someone will overlook you.
The pastor will disappoint you.
People you trusted will hurt you.

But not every disappointment is evidence that we need another church.

Sometimes disappointment is where discipleship begins. And where your emotional intelligence can grow.

Because covenant community forces us to confront something consumer culture allows us to avoid:

People are difficult.

Including us.

If I leave every community when it becomes uncomfortable, I may protect myself from difficult people.

I may also protect myself from becoming the kind of person who knows how to forgive, endure, reconcile, be vulnerable and love.

Sometimes the church that disappoints you is also the church through which God exposes something in you.

Not every discomfort is a sign to leave.

Some discomforts are invitations to grow.

DOES THE BIBLE CONTRADICT ITSELF?

What do we do when a passage of Scripture seems to contradict another? We go deeper.

The Bible was written in real contexts, to real people, addressing real situations. Some instructions were given in response to unhealthy circumstances—not as a complete picture of God’s design for every relationship.

That’s why we don’t want to build our theology from isolated verses. We want to understand Scripture as a whole, allow the Holy Spirit to guide us, and seek the wisdom of God.

REPRODUCIBLE RPMs: Relational Gauge!

We’re continuing our Reproducible RPMs series, and this week we checked another important gauge: our relational gauge.

Jesus gave us the foundation for healthy relationships:

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart… and love your neighbor as yourself.”

Because the truth is, we reproduce who we are. If we want to reproduce healthy, Christ-like people, we first have to become healthy, Christ-like people ourselves.

So what does a healthy relational gauge look like?

1. Loving yourself
We can’t love our neighbor as ourselves if we don’t know how to love ourselves first. Taking care of ourselves and offering ourselves grace, kindness, and forgiveness allows us to extend those same things to others.

2. Love your household
Our household is our first ministry and as we fall in love with God’s Word and allow Scripture to shape us, it will shape our homes and, ultimately, our relationships.

3. Love your church
Biblical community requires sacrifice. It means showing up, helping, serving, giving, being vulnerable, and choosing to walk alongside one another.

4. Love your neighbor
We are called to show compassion, mercy, humility, and love to the people around us. Scripture tells us to be humble and consider others as more important than ourselves.

And that brings us to the question we should all be asking:

Are you being sacrificial for others?
Are you willing to lay down your life for others?

A healthy relational gauge isn’t about what we can get from others—it’s about what we’re willing to give.

1. What is your favorite verse or story in the bible?
Psalm 23:4 - “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.”

2. What are you praying for right now?
My biggest prayer right now is guidance. Guidance as I look for work, and guidance to find things to better myself and my faith.

3. What characteristics of God have gotten you through the hardest moments?
I’d have to say that Gods love and accountability have gotten me through the hardest moments in my life. No matter what happens, I know I have a loving Father in Heaven that is rooting for me, and trying to guide me to a righteous path.

REPRODUCIBLE RPMs: Mental Gauge!

Every day we’re flooded with more information, opinions, distractions, and noise than people generations ago would have encountered in a lifetime.

So the question is: What are you allowing to shape your mind?

If we reproduce who we are, then a healthy mind is essential to reproducing healthy disciples. We can’t pour into our families, our friends, or the people God has called us to disciple if our own mental gauge is running on empty.

This week we looked at four biblical truths for keeping our mental gauge healthy:

1. God never promised this world would be easy, but He did tell us to take courage and put on the armor He has given us.

2. Allow God to renew your mind daily. A transformed life begins with a transformed mind.

3. Walk in obedience to God. His Word lights our path and keeps us from stumbling.

4. Let God fill you up. Stop trying to satisfy your soul with things that were never meant to sustain you. Only God can truly fill what the world leaves empty.

As we continually surrender our minds to Christ, He renews us, strengthens us, and prepares us to faithfully love and lead others.

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” — Romans 12:2 🤍

We kicked off a brand new series to finish off the rest of this year: Reproducible RPMs!

First up, Spiritual Gauge! Just like a vehicle has gauges that tell you how it’s running, our lives have spiritual gauges that reveal the health of our relationship with God.

The truth is: we reproduce who we are. If we’re called to make healthy disciples, we first need to pursue a healthy spiritual life ourselves.

Jesus shows us what that looks like in a few ways-

1. God is the only source of life. Everything we need begins and ends with Him.

2. Allow God to garden your heart. Let Him remove the things that are keeping you from growing.

3. Let Him prune what is already good. Even healthy branches need pruning to become more fruitful.

4. Remain in Him. Lasting fruit isn’t produced by striving—it’s produced by abiding.

Healthy disciples make healthy disciples. It all starts with staying connected to the True Vine.

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” — John 15:5

We wanted to share some of the photos taken from the commissioning ceremony where we celebrated one of our church leaders in the making, Jayden Hershman!

During the service, we reflected on the biblical qualifications and character expected of those who are called to lead and serve God’s people. We celebrated the work God has already done in Jayden’s life and the calling He continues to place on him.

One of the most meaningful moments of the ceremony was gathering around Jayden as a church family, laying hands on him, and praying over him as he continues to walk in the calling of ministry.

We are grateful for Jayden’s heart for God, his commitment to serving others, and his willingness to answer the Lord’s call. Please join us in continuing to pray for wisdom, strength, humility, and faithfulness as he grows into all that God has for him.

The seeds planted in little hearts today become the faith that carries them tomorrow. Every lesson, every prayer, every worship song matters more than we realize.

The way we love, teach, and serve children reflects the heart of God and helps build a generation rooted in truth.
