✨ Nothing the nearness of Christ cannot overcome. ✨

Our dear family and friends,

This year Dan got to receive the best Christmas present that could ever be given.

On Wednesday the 20th he went peacefully to go be with Jesus and had an amazing homecoming. He was not alone, surrounded by so much love, He is now made whole and will never have to hurt again. While we are saddened and heart broken by the fact that we are facing his absence here on earth there is also the peace from God that he is rejoicing with our Heavenly Father and being reunited with our family through Christ that have gone before him. We are assured we will be together again. There in lies hope, the hope of Jesus.

Thank you to everyone that has been along side us praying through this journey to get Dan home peacefully and pain free! We have all coveted your prayers felt them carry us through this difficult chapter in our family. Please don’t stop praying as this next chapter will still be a hard one as we navigate what life will look like here without Dan.

One of the biggest blessings in this is we will get to see little pieces of him in each and every person he has ever worked with and had the opportunity of pouring himself into. Most importantly seeing him through our daughters, their husbands, and our grandbabies as they all have a piece of Dan inside them that will shine through with his passing.

We are asking that if anyone is interested in helping us during this time, if you could please do gift cards for food as we have a mixed bag of food restrictions/allergies between the whole family. Thank you so much for any assistance there! We are expecting this to be a bumpy next couple of weeks/months as we get all of the affairs addressed so the food assistance would be huge load off our minds. If this is not something you are able to do please continue to pray for all of us. We appreciate all your prayers for us as we navigate all the red tape, paperwork, etc, etc, etc!!!!!!!

As it stands right now there is no plan to dissolve Hook Ministries, I need to meet with our board and volunteers. We need prayer to hear the mind of Jesus concerning Hook Ministries, I would like to keep this running as a tribute to Dan’s legacy and all the things God has used him for. Dan put his whole heart into everything he did and I am honored that I get to keep this running for him.

A service has not been planned as of yet. We aren’t even 100% sure of exactly how that will all look, so I ask that you please bear with us and be patient. With the holidays and the starting of the New Year being before us we plan on focusing on our family unit to let this Christmas be a way to honor Dan and what he did for us all as a husband, father, papa, brother, uncle, mentor and friend.

Thank you again for your prayers and all that you have done or will do to help us during this time. We just ask to please be patient and understanding as we will either be delayed in any responses or may not even feel up to it. The girls are helping me with every step in this new chapter and may even be the one responding to any of the messages.

It has been an honor and I have been extremely blessed to have shared my life alongside Dan and raise our family to what it is now and get to see his legacy continued on.

Our dearest family and friends,

It is with a very heavy heart that we are needing to put out an update like this on Dan’s health.

About 5 months ago during a routine scan for his ILD we were given the news that there was more we were needing to face as they saw 2 nodules on his lungs. The pressed for more information by doing a pet scan with contrast, 3 biopsies, It was there we found out things were not isolated to just his lungs, it has spread outside his lungs. Metastasized. A very rare form of lung “C", incurable and extremely aggressive. We just didn’t fully know the extent of it all till we got in to the oncologist.

This was where we were informed of the fact that it was indeed small cell lung cancer called Pancytokeratin. This specific type is deemed incurable and will spread as we found out had already been the case for Dan.

Due to the form of cancer that it is and the advancement of it he has decided with the support of all of us, that he is going to not do treatment as that would only be adding months to his life and most likely giving him an extremely poor quality of life thanks to chemo.

As it stands now the doctors are projecting that he will be looking at weeks to maybe months left here in his earthly body. Only God knows though.

He knows the number of our days so who are we to argue on that? We do know He can choose one of two ways of healing. One through complete healing of his body or taking him home to be with Him, Jesus.

In this time we are asking that if you could please be patient with us as we are trying to savor these next weeks and months with Dan. You are welcome to please send him a note or leave a voicemail to express your own sentiments to him. We will share each and every one with him. It means the world to him and gives him a boost to hear from your heart! But in that I do ask that you please understand that if it takes time to respond or even maybe not get a chance to do that due to the circumstances it is not because we don’t care or don’t want to communicate! It is strictly linked to the case of us all being overwhelmed with this sudden change to life and wanting to spend the time we can with Dan.

Myself (Bonnie) and possibly one of the girls may reach out instead of Dan to help bridge the gap the best we can. Thank you for understanding this and working with us in this difficult time. We just ask at this point to please join us in prayer for our family to carry us through this trying season.
