And she’s off again…

For well over a decade, Sherry Weddell has been helping dioceses and parishes around the world unpack Forming Intentional Disciples and learn how to implement it within their own context. It’s the work that permeates everything we do at the Catherine of Siena Institute.

At the end of this month, Sherry will be bringing that expertise to the Proclaim26 Conference in Melbourne, Australia.

On this Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity, we’re reminded of this profound truth from the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC 2565):

"🙏Prayer is the LIVING RELATIONSHIP of the children of God with their Father who is good beyond measure, with his Son Jesus Christ, and with the Holy Spirit.

💖The GRACE of the kingdom is "the union of the entire holy and royal Trinity . . . with the whole human spirit" (St. Gregory of Nazianzus, Oratio, 16,9:PG 35,945)

💞Thus, the LIFE of prayer is the HABIT of being in the presence of the thrice-holy God and in communion with him."

Today, take time to remember His presence —
as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Welcome the life of the Trinity within you.

If you’re longing to grow in this kind of relationship, to pray more deeply and confidently in union with the entire Trinity, Sherry unpacks this for us in her new book on intercessory prayer. Discover more: siena.org/intentional-intercession

Do people in your parish ever walk into Mass and slip out without speaking to anyone?

Do they know each other’s names?

Do they openly talk about Jesus and know how He has impacted one another’s lives?

Can you imagine what conversations after Mass might sound like if more people knew who they were in Christ, how they were gifted to share His love, and how to walk with others as companions on the journey?

We explored this in a new blog post.

Come imagine the possibilities with us:

Sacred Heart Month is just around the corner, and we’re turning to one of our favorites for our monthly webinar—St. Frances Xavier Cabrini ❤️ Formed by a deep devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Cabrini allowed His love to shape her mission.

Join members of the CSI Team online for 59-minutes-or-less to gather, pray, and reflect on what this great Italian-American immigrant has meant to our faith!

On this memorial of Mary, Mother of the Church, the liturgy places us in two sacred moments: at the Cross, where Jesus gives Mary to the beloved disciple, and in the Upper Room, where she prays with the Church as the Spirit is awaited.

Mary's prayer does not replace the prayer of the other disciples—and she does not relieve us of our responsibility to intercede as part of the Church. She stands within the communion of intercession, showing us how to remain and pray from our own place as disciples.

📖 Intentional Intercession reflects on this shared call: each member of the Body praying boldly, distinctly, and together.

🕊 “The Holy Spirit is the principal agent of evangelization… Without the Holy Spirit…the most convincing language has no power over the heart.” — Pope Paul VI, Evangelii Nuntiandi 75

🔥 On this Feast of Pentecost, take a moment to pause and pray with the Church for the world...

🙏 "Come, Holy Spirit, Creator blest, and in our souls take up Thy rest; come with Thy grace and heavenly aid to fill the hearts which Thou hast made.

O comforter, to Thee we cry, O heavenly gift of God Most High, O fount of life and fire of love, and sweet anointing from above.

Thou in Thy sevenfold gifts are known; Thou, finger of God's hand we own; Thou, promise of the Father, Thou Who dost the tongue with power imbue.

Kindle our sense from above, and make our hearts o'erflow with love; with patience firm and virtue high the weakness of our flesh supply.

Far from us drive the foe we dread, and grant us Thy peace instead; so shall we not, with Thee for guide, turn from the path of life aside.

Oh, may Thy grace on us bestow the Father and the Son to know; and Thee, through endless times confessed, of both the eternal Spirit blest.

Now to the Father and the Son, Who rose from death, be glory given, with Thou, O Holy Comforter, henceforth by all in earth and heaven. Amen."

"Behold, I am with you always until the end of the age." - Jesus (Matthew 28:20)

It's the last week of the Easter season, and Ordinary time is just around the corner calling us to let God into the everyday parts of our lives. This free prayer download guides you to spend time with Jesus every day over the next six months.

Each week's theme focuses in on a scripture from the Sunday Mass readings, which give us a "roadmap" for discipleship this time of year. An optional group guide is included for weekly sharing. May we learn the heart of God as we sit with His Word.

Ascension Sunday:

"In his Ascension, Jesus is more intimately close to us, not less. He is not visibly present and is no longer available to us in the old, natural way as he was during his earthly life, but that is because his Presence with us is now so close as to be in us and among us."
- Shery Weddell

Risen and ascended to the Father, he lives to pray unceasingly for the fulfillment of the Father’s plan of salvation.

And he invites us to join him.

What does it look like for you to step into that prayer to intercede for the coming of his Kingdom?

This is the essence of apostolic intercessory prayer.
