Today's Gospel has a strong connection to a passage we heard proclaimed during Lent: the story of Jesus and the Samaritan woman. At the conclusion of that passage, the woman runs back to town to tell everyone about what Jesus has told her. As the townspeople begin to make their way out to the well to see Jesus, he tells the Twelve to "lift up [their] eyes, and see the fields are white for harvest." What were they looking at? The white head coverings and clothing of the Samaritans.

It's a good reminder that often, the people we are supposed to speak the Word to are RIGHT in front of us.

Today, let's ask the Lord for the strength to proclaim his Word to our neighbors here within the boundaries of Our Lady of the Pines Catholic Church.

Earlier this week, our parish took a group of teens and chaperones to Catholic HEART Workcamp in Albuquerque. We have a few amazing pictures to share!

Lindsay Gutierrez shared, "It was an amazing week of service to the people of Albuquerque and to watch the teens grow closer to God through hard work."

Jewish-American legend Maurice Sendak was born on this day in 1928. Though he lived in America, he was deeply affected by the deaths of numerous family members during the Holocaust. His scary, haunting images result from this connection.

He's most famous for "Where the Wild Things Are," one of the most popular children's books of all time
