Good word of the day.

You don’t have to make someone lose for you to win. Think about that when defending the gospel.

Men, you already know that life is going to put some heavy burdens on your shoulders in 2024, and that’s ok, because you don’t have to struggle alone. In 2024, make it a priority get out of isolation and become the husband, father, and leader that God is calling you to be. Resolve to build your band of brothers in 2024.

‎Show But Why?, Ep Why Men's Alliance? - Dec 5, 2023

“But when the right time came, God sent his Son, born of a woman, subject to the law. God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children. And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, “Abba, Father.” Now you are no longer a slave but God’s own child. And since you are his child, God has made you his heir. - ‭‭Galatians‬ ‭4‬:‭4‬-‭7‬

I have never thought of the law as a foster parent, but that is the example this morning’s devotion gives. Just a couple of verses earlier, Paul told the churches of Galatia that the law was their temporary guardian, watching over them.

Death is the penalty for not keeping the law, which nobody can. Only Jesus of Nazareth was able to follow the entire law of God.

When Christ came and died as the propitiation of our sin, God terminated the “parental rights” of the law and made a way for us to be adopted into His eternal Family. Christ’s atoning blood signed the adoption papers, and made a way for us to live with Him forever.

Thank you Jesus for what you did for me on the cross at Calvary. Thank you Father for making a way for me to be a part of your eternal Family.

Have a blessed day y’all!

Avoid slacktivism…simple words are not enough.

I have to be honest, though I understand the concept, I’d never heard this word prior to reading my devotion this morning. I’ve been guilty of this before, as slacktivism means to support something with little or no involvement or commitment.

Social media is a breeding ground for this concept to flourish. You can like, love, dislike, support, or any other clickable emotion and never have any skin in the game, and we feel better about ourselves for doing so. Words alone cannot help anyone when they are going through something, unless those words are part of a deliberate conversation with our living God, through His Son Jesus, who wants to be a part of our lives.

Paul taught all throughout the New Testament, that repentance of sin and faith in Christ is all you need to be saved. While this is true, James goes on to tell us that the faith we have is worthless, unless it brings about good works.

It can be hard for a new believer to understand, but the more we mature in our relationship of faith with Jesus of Nazareth, the more we align ourselves with Him, and in turn, we long to do work for His kingdom. This is a part of the spiritual maturation process, and is a natural result of spending more time with Him theoigh prayer and in God’s Word.

“How foolish! Can’t you see that faith without good deeds is useless? Don’t you remember that our ancestor Abraham was shown to be right with God by his actions when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? You see, his faith and his actions worked together. His actions made his faith complete. And so it happened just as the Scriptures say: “Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith.” He was even called the friend of God. So you see, we are shown to be right with God by what we do, not by faith alone. Rahab the pr******te is another example. She was shown to be right with God by her actions when she hid those messengers and sent them safely away by a different road. Just as the body is dead without breath, so also faith is dead without good works.” - James‬ ‭2‬:‭20‬-‭26

“There is no place for slacktivism in the life of a follower of Jesus.”

Have a blessed day y’all!

“When I first came to you, dear brothers and sisters, I didn’t use lofty words and impressive wisdom to tell you God’s secret plan. For I decided that while I was with you I would forget everything except Jesus Christ, the one who was crucified. I came to you in weakness—timid and trembling. And my message and my preaching were very plain. Rather than using clever and persuasive speeches, I relied only on the power of the Holy Spirit. I did this so you would trust not in human wisdom but in the power of God.” - 1 Corinthians‬ ‭2‬:‭1‬-‭5‬

God speaks thru our weakness. In his first letter to the church at Corinth, Paul provided some sage wisdom thru some simple preaching. He stated that while with them, he’d forget all that he had been taught for years as a religious leader, and only teach the simple Gospel message of Jesus of Nazareth.

He did not find his power in WHAT he knew. Rather he found the strength and ability to reach the people and teach God’s Word in WHO he knew. He found his confidence and ability to resonate with the people thru his trust in the Holy Spirit to use him as a vessel to teach the Gospel message.

We too have the same ability the great teacher Paul had. Though studying and preparing is an important aspect in our spiritual growth as believers, it is not necessary to be a follower of Christ. This is the simplicity that Paul taught and should be the basis of our Gospel conversations with others.

Have a blessed day y’all!
