In the early 1970s, our beloved founders had the vision to start a music ministry that would bring young people of differing Christian denominations together, with the purpose of spreading the gospel through song. With the creation of the Maranatha Touring Choir in 1972, this vision was realized as young people from many area churches came together, developed friendships, presented concerts, and toured throughout the United States and Canada. After great success with high school and college-aged students, the Maranatha Second Generation Choir was founded in 1992, allowing younger students to be a part of the ministry. In 2007, we expanded yet again, forming the Maranatha Gospel Choir, allowing adults who had been part of Maranatha as children and youth, and other adults to be a part of our mission to spread the gospel through song.
Maranatha Music Ministries has accomplished a great deal since 1972, and at the same time, our community has grown, bringing all of the cultural changes that come with a 47-year history. Inter- and Non-denominational churches are thriving, and Christian churches in our area regularly work together on important mission work, such as caring for the homeless community in Fredericksburg, which Maranatha has been blessed to take part in for several years, serving a monthly meal to those in need. With all of the exciting growth and opportunity in our area, however, the continuation of our choral music ministry has been challenging, and we are no longer able to maintain the membership and financial support required to continue.
After much deliberation and prayer, our Board of Directors has reached a decision to dissolve Maranatha Music Ministries. God has blessed us in many ways throughout the years, and hundreds of people have played an active role in our ministry. Our mission has always been to set aside our differences, and to focus on our common goal of spreading the gospel through song. We have instilled this vision into the hearts and minds of countless people, young and old. We have changed our community. We have completed our mission.
The Board of Directors asks for your prayers as we complete the dissolution process, which will include the liquidation of our assets, among other tasks. We are thankful for all who have supported us over the years, with participation, with prayer, and with financial support. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I
Blessings,
Board of Directors
