Take the time to sit down with your family and explore the truths about Christmas! It is easy for us to be misled when we hear the story told over and over again, but it’s important for us to all see what the Bible says. I hope you’ll take the time to watch this very insightful video.

Would you be surprised to learn that the Bible does not even mention Christmas? Would you further be surprised to learn that the story of Jesus' birth, as commonly told, is very different from the inspired text? What is a Christian's responsibility at this time of the year? In this video, Don Blackw...

This one may upset some, but please hear me out.

There is so much I love about Christmas, but the truth is, I don’t love how we put so much emphasis on worshiping and celebrating Jesus as a seasonal thing.

Did you know, Christmas is not actually found anywhere in the Bible. It never tells us when Jesus was born. In fact, most scholars believe it wouldn’t have been anytime in or near December.

Nor does the Bible make any mention or commandment for us to celebrate the birth of Christ.

The reason I discourage such a focus on the birth of Christ during this time is because very much like your own birthday, it becomes seasonal. You don’t celebrate your birthday every single day. Christianity is much more than a seasonal celebration. It is a lifelong commitment to die to ourselves and follow Christ DAILY.

“And He was saying to them all, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭9‬:‭23‬ ‭

Furthermore, there are many who treat Christmas as the only time they should go to church. The Bible would describe this as “lukewarm” behavior. Listen to what Jesus says about this. “So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭3‬:‭16‬

Do you want to make Jesus sick to the point He spits you out? I sure don’t.

Don’t get me wrong. There are many positives to Christmas. It’s a time where more or less the entire world hears about Jesus Christ and for that I rejoice. But hearing and believing that Jesus is the son of God is just the beginning. Upon believing, one must repent (Luke 13:3) and be baptized (Acts 2:38) in order to have their sins washed away.

Jesus is not the reason for a season, He is the reason for everything in our life. Don’t let Christmas fool you into thinking you can celebrate our savior just this one time a year. Pick up your cross and remember what He has done for you DAILY!

I believe with all my heart that the Bible is the Word of God. Why?

Because it is a product beyond the power of man. Its content and composition demand divine help.

Note, the Bible was written over a period of about 1600 years by about 40 different authors (inspired of God). These men ranged in vocation from fishermen to kings.

They wrote on controversial subjects as sin, death, morals, redemption, etc., without collaboration with each other and without a single contradiction. And to make it even more spectacular, all of these 66 books put together tell a single story of God’s love for
man and His plan to save him through Jesus Christ, His son. If you were to take two of the most brilliant philosophers of this day and ask them to write on the Bible subjects of sin, death, morals, human redemption, etc., you would find many contradictions --
imagine what would happen if this were done with 40 different philosophers!

Yes, God had a hand in writing the Bible; the unity of Scriptures demands this.

This being the case, read the Bible and come to know God and His Son, Jesus.

Is the Bible just a book?

In this video, I challenge you to think otherwise.

Even the winds and the waves obey.

“For after all it is only just for God to repay with affliction those who afflict you, and to give relief to you who are afflicted and to us as well when the Lord Jesus will be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels in flaming fire, dealing out retribution to those who do not know God and to those who do NOT OBEY THE GOSPEL of our Lord Jesus. These will pay the penalty of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, when He comes to be glorified in His saints on that day, and to be marveled at among all who have believed—for our testimony to you was believed.”
‭‭2 Thessalonians‬ ‭1‬:‭6‬-‭10‬ ‭

It seems to be the most popular belief in Christians today that as long as you “know God, believe in Jesus, and are a good person” you’re going to heaven.

However, what does the Bible say?

Are you truly saved?

How were you saved?

Sinner’s prayer?

Asking Jesus into your heart?

Were you ever baptized? If so, were you saved before you were baptized?

The verse above tells us when He comes back, He’s going to take vengeance on those who haven’t obeyed the gospel, so don’t you need to know what the gospel is and how to obey it?

Saying the sinner’s prayer and asking Jesus into your heart isn’t obeying the gospel. No one in the Bible has ever been saved that way.

So are you ready to know what the gospel is and how to obey it? Let’s set up a time to do a one on one Bible study!
