Today is Pentecost Sunday which reminds us that God
gathers us together as one, even as we arrive with different
gifts from different places. In our diversity, the Spirit blesses
and welcomes us. The Spirit unifies us by inviting us to share
our gifts, whatever they may be, and to proclaim our truth
in our own languages, whatever they may be. In God’s Holy
Spirit, the language of love and service binds us together to
be one body of Christ. We are stronger together than we are
apart. Created by one God, blessed and sustained by one
Spirit, all are welcome here.

Our God is a life-giving God and we humbly receive
his blessings, but we don’t always feel worthy to
receive them. God’s call often confuses us and his love
seems too generous. We worship and pray, yet we still
count the times we fall short of what we think God
expects of us. God’s mercy is abundant, but we
hesitate to open or hearts to receive it. God hears our
faithful prayers and looks upon us with eyes filled with
compassion. Christ advocates on our behalf and
through him we are forgiven. We are called by Christ
from suffering to renewal, from despair to hope. As
witnesses to God’s love for all people, may we show
love for one another while ushering in the peace of
Christ to resolve the broken places in our community.
A healthy rhythm forms healthy habits - and habits
are powerful in shaping our lives.

Life is hard, confusing, and frustrating. To know that
you have a place to go and be lifted up or challenged to
keep going, to keep moving forward in faith every
week is truly a gift.
Today, we begin a 4-week series on gathering together.
So, if you’re here today, then you’re already on track.
God is the creator of all, not just those who claim to be the
people of God. God calls and welcomes all of humanity into
community. We, who claim our love for Christ, are invited
to extend extravagant welcome in both word and action to
all of God’s children everywhere. With hands raised high or
hearts quietly pondering …we come to worship God.
Bringing our love, opening our minds …we draw near to
God, near to each other, and near to Christ, the Word of
God.

Have you ever experienced doubt? It’s a part of our natural
state as human beings to doubt a God we haven’t seen face
to face. Abraham, a man of faith in the Old Testament,
understood this well. His wife, Sarah, is who we are focusing
on this week. What happens when God’s grace shows up in a
way that proves Himself faithful, even amidst our doubt?
I am excited to be back with you today as we are closing out
our sermon series, Grace Under Fire. Have you enjoyed our
discussion of God’s grace? Isn’t He so good to us? Hopefully,
this series has caused you to reflect on the ways God has
been faithful in our lives even when we’ve given Him every
reason to give up on us.
We have mentioned that God’s grace is often shown in the
midst of a “fire” we are experiencing. This is by design, as
God refines us through the fire, proving to us that His grace
can be trusted and counted on in any and every situation or
circumstance. We have noted that God’s grace is always
with us, clearly for us, and completely sustains us.
Today as we close out our series, we are talking about the
peace God’s grace brings into our lives through His
everlasting love and faithfulness. Let’s jump in…

Welcome back! We are so excited you decided to join us
today, as we continue our series, Grace Under Fire.
Throughout our series we’ve talked about different ways
God’s grace functions in our lives. Oftentimes, this grace is
felt in the midst of a “fire” of some kind. God uses the “fire”
in our lives to refine what He has already given us. Today,
we’re going to dive into a section of Paul’s story where we
see the same kind of refining taking place.
We all go through seasons of our life when we feel weak. It
could be physical, emotional, mental, or even spiritual
weakness. Either way, God says that His strength is made
perfect in human weakness. His grace is always sufficient in
any and every season or situation.
