A blanket with holes in it can't cover you effectively. In areas where there's no fabric, you'll be exposed. Similarly, a pastor can't cover you appropriately in areas where there's no faith.

"Church Hurt" is when you expected to be covered but were exposed by the holes in another person's faith. You pointed out the holes, but they shifted your attention to the rest of them that was intact, what they've done for you, how they've been there for you, etc.

Then, rather than dealing with you like a son or daughter and being concerned about your purpose, they treated you like a slave master would, concerned only about your production (tithes, offering, loyalty, attendance). You weren't being covered. You were being exploited, like cheap labor. You were being controlled. You expressed a concern, only to go from being exposed and exploited to being exiled.

Now, the slave master, masquerading as your pastor, executes you in front of those who are still on the plantation by discrediting your character, maturity and commitment. You're figuratively whipped in front of the other slaves, to keep them in line, control them.

So, when someone says they have "Church Hurt" it's deeper than disappointment or a disagreement. They've been exposed, exploited, exiled and executed. You have no right to dismiss their emotions.

Written by a pastor with holes, praying to be whole, so I never treat sheep like slaves.

Good morning,
We are getting closer to our first morning worship service on August 16th at 10:30am. Please keep us in your prayers. A special thanks to all of you who have supported our afternoon services, after leaving your church's morning worship. I love you so much and realize this time change means I won't see you as much, but you remain in my prayers. We couldn't have made it this far without you. God bless you!

Let's continue to build the Kingdom of God. The first series is entitled "Blessed", and I can't wait to share the greatness of our God. I love you all!
