Central Church

Central Church Central Church exists to glorify God by multiplying and maturing disciples of Christ. We desire to be a church full of grace and truth.

We are a church in the greater Memphis area (Collierville) that wants to be different. Our desire is for people who are far away from God as well as those who are tired of religion, to see a church that is doing everything possible to honor Christ and change the world. We believe in second chances (and third and fourth and so on…). We are a church of imperfect people doing life together. Central i

s a warm, welcoming church where everyone is invited, included and important. We definitely believe there is a place for you at Central Church!

We loved spending the evening together at Girls Night Out and hearing how God is working in the lives of women in our church family. Thank you, Isabel, for sharing how you've seen God's hand at work in your family's journey. Thank you, Molly, for pointing us back to the hope and truth found in Christ. And thank you to everyone who joined us! We're already looking forward to the next one!

When the early church struggled to meet every member's needs, the apostles did not resolve to simply work harder or take on longer working hours. Their answer was to multiply the number of people ministering to the church.

The apostles selected seven qualified men to handle issues like food distribution amongst their widows, demonstrating that healthy growth requires developing others, not just doing more ourselves.

When we try to do everything ourselves, we become limited by our capacity. When we invest in equipping others to do meaningful ministry, we create a much more sustainable impact that extends far beyond our individual limitations.

This week, ask yourself: where might God be calling you to serve His people?

If you're already serving, especially as a leader, ask: who might God be calling you to equip, disciple, or raise up alongside you in ministry?

This week, our year-long journey through Scripture brings us to the book of Proverbs, a collection of God-given wisdom that teaches us how to walk faithfully in everyday life. Much of Proverbs was written by King Solomon, the son of King David, who was known for the remarkable wisdom God granted him.

Throughout the book, we see the contrast between wisdom and foolishness, righteousness and wickedness, faith and self-reliance. The proverbs speak into ordinary parts of life, including our words, relationships, work, parenting, and decisions. Over and over, we are reminded that true wisdom does not begin with human insight, but with reverence for the Lord. We are called to humbly heed the guidance of God rather than rely on our own understanding.

Proverbs reminds us that God has always provided wise instruction for His people throughout the generations. At the same time, the New Testament calls us to look to Jesus Christ as our perfect example. Again and again, we are encouraged to model our lives after Him because He walked the earth in perfect obedience to His Father. The wisdom found in Proverbs echoes the wisdom Christ displayed throughout His earthly ministry.

As you read Proverbs this week, consider how often the Lord invites His people to listen, trust, and walk in His wisdom. Look for ways you can apply godly wisdom in situations at work and at home. May this week’s reading encourage us to seek Christ more deeply, treasure God’s Word more fully, and grow in wisdom as we walk with Him each day.

Christ created His church to be one united body, serving and striving together towards the same goal. When we allow preferences and personal disagreements to divide us, we lose sight of why God called us out of darkness and into His marvelous light in the first place.

Unity develops when we recognize our shared need for Jesus Christ. He has saved us, cleansed us, and set us on the path toward eternal life. When we rest in what Christ has done for us, we find unity in worshipping Him together.

Getting along isn't just a good idea for the church; it's a command from our Lord and Savior. This week, let’s pursue unity with humility, laying down our pride and preferences at the door.

“Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” — John 15:13

Having created us, God knows what speaks to the human heart. We admire sacrifice because it reflects the story woven into creation itself, the story of a Savior who laid down His life for others.

Today, we remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice helped preserve freedoms many of us enjoy every day, including the freedom to worship openly and share the gospel boldly.

As you spend time with friends and family today, remember the sacrifice our fallen soldiers made for us, and the greater sacrifice Christ made. And let that remembrance move you to share His love, His gospel, and the hope found only in Him.

The third and final week of our reading of the Psalms brings us to Psalms 101-150. As this book draws to a close, all people and all creation are called to praise the Lord. This final selection also contains Psalm 119, the longest chapter in the entire Bible. In it, the psalmist celebrates the beauty and wisdom of God's Word, reminding us that the Lord guides His people through His truth.

In these psalms, we encounter a rich tapestry of themes. We see heartfelt cries for justice and deliverance, like Psalm 109, alongside songs of praise and celebration, like Psalm 148. We encounter prayers of repentance and trust, like Psalm 130, as well as thanksgiving for God's protection, as in Psalm 121. Together, these chapters guide us through a full spectrum of life before God, which includes lament, hope, joy, and worship.

Throughout the Psalter, we also catch glimpses of the coming Messiah. In the prophetic Psalm 110, for example, David speaks of a victorious Priest-King who reigns over all enemies and intercedes for His people. Christ Himself will quote this psalm while the Pharisees test Him in Matthew 22:41-46. The New Testament identifies Jesus as the fulfillment of this mighty promised ruler. He is the King who reigns and the Priest whose work of redemption is complete.

As you read these final psalms, notice how the book moves steadily toward praise. Generation after generation, God's people have lifted their voices because of His faithfulness. May these songs lead us to treasure His Word and rejoice in right worship of the Redeemer who fulfills every promise. Next week, we will continue our year-long study with the book of Proverbs!

Pause. Take a moment out of your day to meditate on scripture!

Ever wonder why the Bible refers to the church as the "body of Christ?" Paul uses the term here in Ephesians to help us understand the relationship shared by Jesus and every believer.

Much like the human body, the church is all united together as one organism. The human body has many different parts that do different things. Similarly, when we work together as one organized body, we can accomplish the goal determined by our head, Jesus Christ: building each other up in love.

Many members. One body. Alive, connected, and growing together. This week, ask yourself, "How can I be a productive member of the body of Christ, building up others through my words and actions?"
