🏰 Our campers had a fantastical time last week at VBS: The Mighty Kingdom!

🐉 They learned how to truly live like a knight in the kingdom of God through art, song and dance, skits, and reflective discussions with one another. It was a magical week!



🏰 ¡Nuestros participantes lo pasaron de maravilla la semana pasada en la Escuela Bíblica de Vacaciones «El Reino Poderoso»!

🐉 Aprendieron a vivir verdaderamente como caballeros en el reino de Dios a través del arte, el canto y el baile, las representaciones teatrales y conversaciones reflexivas entre ellos. ¡Fue una semana mágica!

In conjunction with National Celebrate Life Day, next Saturday, June 20, in Washington, D.C. and communities nationwide, our Diocesan Sanctity of Life Steering Committee is sponsoring a local celebration to thank God on the Fourth Anniversary of an historical Pro-Life victory!

Join our Sanctity of Life Steering Committee for Holy Mass, next Saturday morning, June 20, 8:15am, at our beautiful Chapel of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 8151 Poplar Ave., Germantown. After the Holy Mass there will be a Rosary for Life. All Glory to God!

Today, June 12, the Catholic Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. This Solemnity takes place 19 days after Pentecost Sunday and on the Friday after the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. Also known as Corpus Christi Sunday, which was June 7 this year.

Pope Saint John Paul II, a great devotee of the Sacred Heart, said, “This Feast reminds us of the mystery of the love of God for the people of all times.” The beginnings of a devotion of the love of God symbolized by the heart of Jesus are found in the fathers of the Catholic Church, including Origen, St. Ambrose, St. Jerome, St. Augustine of Hippo, St. Hippolytus of Rome, St. Irenaeus, St. Justin Martyr, and St. Cyprian.

From the heart of Jesus originates the true knowledge of Jesus Christ and a deeper experience of His love. On this day, we also pray the Litany of the Sacred Heart and make an Act of Reparation. All Glory to God!
