From the Desk of Rabbi Judy - There are two Torah portions that frame this week’s teachings: Behar and B’chukotai. Together, they form a double portion that brings us to the end of the Book of Leviticus. Our Sages teach that to gain the fullest understanding of any Torah portion, it helps to notice what Book comes before it—and where the new Book is leading. Torah portions are best viewed as a continuous experience. They unfold like a carefully prepared meal where each course builds on the last and prepares us for what is to come, allowing us to.....Read More Here

From the Desk of Rabbi Cantor Judy -
This week’s Torah portion, Emor, focuses on God teaching the Children of Israel as they head towards the Promised Land. Step by step, it outlines how to build a sacred world through responsible actions and a designated calendar of time. It is best known as the moment when God hands down the sacred calendar, the festivals, the seasons, and the rhythms of time that continue to shape Jewish life today.

Since coming here, I have shared with you the image of the circle of Jewish time—a powerful visual for understanding how Judaism experiences holiness. Time and timing are...TO READ MORE PLEASE VISIT https://www.congregationbethisrael.org/rabbi-judy-blog.html

THIS SHABBAT: your presence is more important than ever…Why ? It is Yom Haatzmaut- Israel Independence day!

Now I know when I hear it’s the “Yoms…”, it can sometime be accompanied by an “oyyyy”.

What I admire about the Tarrant county Federation is they put so much time and energy into collaborating with the Clergy and our synagogues.

From Passover through the “Yoms” is almost as exhausting as the High Holidays.

It began last week at the Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF) dinner, when Cantor Paul and I sang Hatikvah and America the Beautiful. What followed surprised and riveted me.

Last night’s community Yom HaShoah remembrance service was incredibly moving. In a time when the world feels so uncertain, it is more important than ever that we come together to remember the Holocaust and honor those we lost.
Thank you to the participating synagogues, churches, and community members who made the service so meaningful. And to the Jewish Federation of Fort Worth and Tarrant County for bringing our community together for such a powerful evening. A heartfelt thank you to Anna Salton Eisen for her moving presentation about her mother, Ruth Salton, and Irena Sendler—it was truly unforgettable.

What is Yom HaShoah?
Beginning at sundown on April 13 and ending at sundown on April 14, 2026, Israel and Jews worldwide observe Yom HaShoah, Israel’s Holocaust Remembrance Day. This solemn day, which falls on the 27th of Nisan on the Hebrew calendar each year, honors the memory of the people brutally murdered during the Holocaust. Yom HaShoah translates to Holocaust Remembrance Day in Hebrew.

Never Again - לְעוֹלָם לֹא שׁוֹב
May their memories forever be a blessing - זִכְרוֹנָם לִבְרָכָה
