St. Mary's Coptic Orthodox Church Mark the Evangelist in the city of Alexandria around 43 A.D.

The Coptic Church was established in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ by St. The church adheres to the Nicene Creed. St. Athanasius (296-373 A.D.), the twentieth Pope of the Coptic Church effectively defended the Doctrine of the Lord Jesus Christ's Divinity at the Council of Nicea in 325 A.D. His affirmation of the doctrine earned him the title; "Father of Orthodoxy" and St. Athanasius "the Apost

olic". The term "Coptic" is derived from the Greek "Aigyptos" meaning "Egyptian". When the Arabs arrived in Egypt in the seventh century, they called the Egyptians "qibt". Thus the Arabic word "qibt" came to mean both "Egyptians" and "Christians".

We are back with something special! It’s that special time of the year again! | Blessed Feast of St. Mary to all!

Peace and Grace, we are excited to announce the schedule of St. Mary’s Revival 2026 at St. Mary’s Church in Colleyville, TX, starting Tuesday, August 6th, 2025 with Vespers, Veneration, and a Procession to honor our beloved Mother.

Each evening will be filled with spiritual talk, including sermons by our beloved fathers from across the DFW area. We warmly invite you and your families to join us for this blessed time of prayer.

بكل رجاءٍ في قيامة ربنا يسوع المسيح، نودّع والدتنا وجدّتنا الحبيبة السيّدة حكمت يسّى، التي انتقلت بسلامٍ على رجاء القيامة صباح يوم السبت الموافق 30 مايو 2026.

وهي والدة صاحب النيافة الحبر الجليل الأنبا يوسف، مطران جنوب الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية.

تقبل الأسرة العزاء بكنيسة الشهيد العظيم مار مينا بمدينة هومديل، ولاية نيوچيرسي، يوم الأربعاء الموافق 3 يونيو في تمام الساعة السابعة مساءً.

كما يُقام القدّاس الإلهي يوم الخميس الموافق 4 يونيو بالكنيسة نفسها من الساعة السابعة حتّى العاشرة صباحًا، ويعقبه صلاة الجنّاز.

فليُنيّح الربّ نفسها الطاهرة في فردوس النعيم، وليمنح جميع أفراد الأسرة ومحبّيها تعزيات الروح القدس بصلوات أبينا الحبيب نيافة الأنبا يوسف.

With great hope in the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, we bid farewell to our beloved mother and grandmother, Mrs. Hekmat Yassa, who peacefully departed to the Lord on the morning of Saturday, May 30, 2026.

She is the beloved mother of our dear father, Metropolitan Anba Youssef.

The family will accept condolences at the church of St Mina, Holmdel, NJ on Wednesday, June 3 at 7pm.

There will be a liturgy on Thursday, June 4 at the same church from 7-10am followed by the funeral prayers.

May the Lord repose her pure soul in the paradise of joy and comfort all the family members through the prayers of our dear Father His Eminence Metropolitan Youssef.
