"Remembering with Intention and a Call to Peace" - Service for Sunday, May 24th at 10:30am

On Memorial Day, we are called to remember the cost of war. We honor those who bore that cost, whether with their life in combat or with their sanity, health or longevity over time. Rick Cole will speak about his service as a nurse in the Navy. Doug Spandau will talk about his father’s book Lost Diary: A True War Story. We can debate differences between just and unjust wars, between heroic sacrifice and tragic waste of life, but as Unitarian Universalists, we are called to remember war and sacrifice with integrity, and to work for peace in our communities and in the world.

ANNUAL FLOWER COMMUNION
May 17th, 2026 at 10:30 am

In June 1923, Rev. Norbert Čapek created a worship service imagining a more loving and beautiful world. He invited his congregation to bring a flower to church and exchange for a different bloom. Flower Communion is a celebration of individuality and a hope for unity in diversity. Bring a flower from your yard, from a field, a store, the roadside… and share in this decidedly Unitarian Universalist celebration.

Service is online and in person. Monthly Brunch to follow service. For more info, visit TPUUF.org

"What Gets Overlooked" with Rev. Andrew Weber

It matters what we pay attention to and, conversely, what gets overlooked. February was Black History Month and March is Women’s History Month. The recognitions can be off-putting to many people. This Sunday, we are going to explore the rationale for the emphasis and why there is no month specifically focused on “White History” nor “Men’s History”.

“Our Soul Matters theme for January is Practicing Resistance. The Underground Railroad and the civil rights movement were non-violent resistance against the cruelty and injustice of slavery and segregation. There was violent resistance and violent backlash, but it was non-violent resistance that most stubbornly bent the moral arc of the universe toward justice. Quakers and Unitarian Universalists were led by their faith to help. Even Thomas Paine leant a hand with his pen. Their actions can inform and inspire us to live our faith and our principles in these challenging times.”

Worship service for January 4th, 2026 at 10:30am:

Himalayan Singing Bowl Sound Bath with Qatana Samanen, Guest Speaker

Himalayan Singing Bowls have been used for centuries for meditation and healing purposes. The calming vibrations of the bowls naturally transport you into a state of deep relaxation.

It’s called a ‘Sound Bath’ because you bathe, fully dressed, in the calming sound of the bowls.Sound baths can be enjoyed equally well both sitting in a chair or lying on the ground.

All you need to do is relax into the soothing vibrations of the bowls. As they wash around you and through you, you’ll experience for yourself the magic they bring. Qatana Samanen has been using the Himalayan Singing Bowls in her therapy practice and the workshops she leads for decades. Over the past several years, she has deepened her study of this ancient modality to offer individualhealing sessions and Sound Bath concerts.

Choosing Hope
(Intergenerational Service & Brunch)

Rev. Andrew L. Weber

In one sense, hope is the belief that the world and our lives will be “okay”. (Consider the opposite - hopelessness - when all seems lost.) We are charged this month to choosehope, but I wonder: Is hope a choice? Can we decide to have faith in personal and world betterment? How does one choose hope?
